Re: harmonics tuner?
I didn't bother looking at the link.
I've used, installed, made lots of barrel tuners for smallbore stuff.
Here's the thought process.
Get a C clamp, a ruler, a penny, and some chewed gum.
Clamp your ruler to your kitchen table. Stick the penny on it with the gum at the 12" mark.
Now give the ruler a bump and just watch the ruler as it bounces up and down.
Now move the penny to the 10" mark and repeat.
The amplitude should stay about the same but the frequency changes a bit.
This is exactly how the barrel tuner works.
All your doing is attempting to time the momentary pause of the barrel with the exit of the projectile. With rimfire it can yield impressive gains since the ammunition cannot be really altered to the gun. It becomes a function of lot testing and lots of shooting to get one of these to really wake up.
Using a tuner can help reduce the headaches, but it's a double edge sword.
Change anything (and that means ANYTHING) and all bets are off. You'll have to start all over. Screw torque, scopes, ammo lots/brands/types, etc all has an effect.
Over time you'll also learn that the numbers on the tuners have a cycle that repeats over a regular pattern. Say you end up with a value of "10" on your tuner. On a .025" thread pitch tuner it seems to repeat about every 8 steps. 10-18-26-etc. . .
Hope this helped.
