Curious how some are handling something like this. It’s a 4x4 literally duct taped to a cattle gate leaning from the right edge of the top of the cattle gate. Sticky bag wasn’t great for a righty, curious how some of you may handle this. It’s bouncy and would love to run rear tripod but the bag and rifle are sliding down without input….

Kinda hard to visualize but my first thought is - cant the bipod to match the angle, spiked feet with one leg extended and one retracted, with tripod rear. I assume lefties were resting their support hand on the 4x4 to keep the bag from slipping...
Interesting. I’m going to try it. Spike the right bipod leg and stab it in the board…. Let’s see if it will work.

Lean the collapsed tripod on the rail, put bag on the apex/rail interface. Pardon the shitty artwork.

Are y’all seeing MDs generally allow this? Not giving shooters grief by saying the rifle is being supported by the tripod/ground?

I’ve seen similar allowed, but it’s easy to imagine getting told “no.”
We did this at a Prentice match in Navasota last spring. RO’s didn’t seem to care. N=1. Your mileage may vary.

I would expect it was to force shooting off the support side. As an MD it would only be fair if there were 2 going opposite ways. Also depends on target size. If the target is not small, might be just a mental game. The hyper gamey solutions work if that is the goal. Maybe a “tripod only” match would be a hit.

No reason to shoot support side no matter which way the rails lean….or ever unless the COF says you have to.

Depending on how thick the posts per venue, I try to pinch the bag into the post and manipulate that way. If the post is too wide, I put place my hand on the opposite side of the bag to keep it sliding downwards, kind of like bracing against your tripod when shooting off of it.

Depends on what the MD is looking to do I guess. Sometimes the mental gymnastics to avoid something are more problematic than actually doing something that makes you slightly uncomfortable. Support side feels weird for me but my results are not as bad as I expect.

That’s true. It’s never as bad as I imagine it’s going to be.

Keep in mind we had to go back and forth from the cattle gate to the slanted 4x4…. Neither were solid, lol.

I bagged both without a tripod rear, should have at least went tripod rear on cattle gate and got a 7 of 12. Just trying to be a little better prepared if I ever see that again
