This was taken at my wedding (month ago) by 1 of 2 professional photographers we had there. It was in a series of a few photos taken less than a minute apart. They took 2K+ photos and this was the only one like it. We have asked several to explain it with no luck. The photo was shot digital RAW with no editing in or out of the camera. Any explanations???

I'm not a photography expert by any stretch of the imagination but more than likely its some sort of anomaly having to do with the camera and or lighting conditions.

What makes you say "ghost"?

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

not this is the only photo with it.. no cat, dog etc. It was shot with a Nikon D3, which is a pro level Nikon camera.

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

NO, if you look at the picture you can the the exposure time was higher than normal (perhaps an automatic setting being that you were inside). See there is no blurring on the right side of the bed nor the lamp and table but there is blurring on the left side of the bed where something caused the bed to move. You say it's not a cat or dog but it was something moving out of frame quickly. Furthermore, the white pillow in the center of the bed fell over midway through the exposure, you can see the distinct outline where it fell to just as the shutter closed. So ok, it wasn't a dog or cat but something white/light caused actual physical movement on the bed affecting the white pillow and the left side of the bed so we can rule out a ghost so you might as well come clean...

It does appear to be a long exposure judging by the parts of the bed that seem to be blurry similar to what movement of the camera or subject during long exposures would create. It might be the camera guy just messing around with you or he may not have looked at the photos and didn't edit this one out of the ones he sent you. There's a good chance its some thing like what AXEMAN said, cat, dog, towel or otherwise.

Effing funny.

Glare reflecting off the lens momentarily, perhaps moving the camera lens while the shutter closed giving that impression of movement in the photo.

Maybe someone tossed the pillow onto the bed as the photo was being snapped. Looks like a bounce in there..

my thoughts exactly

I'm no photographer or subject matter expert but if you consider this from the phsycological side. Why would a photographer take picures of an empty bed on your wedding day? Maybe because there was in fact an animal or some other "cute shot" to be taken. That is when the animal decided to provide you with this mind boggling photo.

He caught an image of the last remains of your freedom, as it began its quest for a new place to live.

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

After the wedding they downloaded 24GB (2300) photos directly onto my computer.. zero editing, straight out of the camera and cards. The photographer that took that photo was photographing the house and grounds (just remodeled). That exposure was 1 second at f13 and is 10MB in size. I would take switchblade thought, but it sure looks like two legs, a arm and the larger pillow in the background is fuzzy in that area with the rest clear.

My office landlord is a photographer, 30 years experience with his studio in the building. He looked, we reviewed the meta data... no idea.. he is the one who thought it was paranormal..

I don't know, the house has a great feel, no weird vibes ever, a good space.

Maybe CKA was right.. lingering fart!!

Couple times after too many beers, wings, poppers and such, a few were dealt that surely would have manifested on film if I'd had a camera.

This seems the most likely explanation to me, as this is what I was thinking before I read Switchblade's post. The fact that the large pillow on the left is blurry could be due to it being moved by the impact of the small pillow during the shutter interval after being tossed onto the bed.
Also, the fact that the small pillow is in a pretty "random" spot (not centered between the larger pillows) seems odd. Especially considering that whoever arranged the pillows probably knew the photographer would be taking pictures of the house and grounds. It even seems a little odd that if the photographer was going to shoot the bed, that he wouldn't straighten out the pillows himself, the same way he/she would "set up" a shot by positioning people to get the best possible shot.

One final thought: Is that small pillow normally on the bed at all? It's a little too fancy to "fit in" with the other bedding and the decor of the room. With the beading and the lace, it looks like it may have been part of the ceremony (Like one of those little pillows on which rings would be carried).
The more I look at the picture, the more I am convinced that this is the case.

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

it was taking on a manual setting with a slow shutter speed with no flash. Here is on I just snapped the same way

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

could be auto exposure too, with what light thats there. there was a tripod or a VR lens used to get the rest of it that sharp id guess. but looking at the arc of the blur, something moved into that photo or out of it

but lazy, that there is a class 5 repeater. you better call ghost busters

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

I still just don't know. I was going with a pillow toss but it's a queen size bed and that pillow would have had to bounce three feet and land correctly... never happens when I toss something. I just can not explain it to myself with any certainty.

Re: Help explain this picture (ghost maybe???)

let me end all questions you all might have, you can clearly see two apparition arms trying to cover up the snail trails it left on the bed from the night before, poulter ghoosts get a little emberrased by their splooge from the afterlife. Did you wake up with "flem" in yer throat, or a soreness in yee bunghole? I swear a ghostly yetti sucks me off each night from the wet spot in me pants each mornin!
