In my search for an optic for a 20" .308 build, I came across an early model IOR-Valdada 4-14x50 in mint condition. Its a 30mm tube, with MP-8 reticle, 1/2 MOA adjustments, and with parallax asjustment on the objective. Any ideas on how old this scope would be, and any reasons to avoid it? How solid are the turrets, and any known issues with this particular model? I suspect that the glass will be superb, but I remember reading about some QC issues with earlier IOR optics. Thanks!

I stumbled across the same thing today. The price seems too good to be true, and you know what they say about that...
On the other hand, it's a IOR Valdada, so how bad could it be?

I wish some more knowledgeable people would help us out here!

The big problem with these is the turrets aren't really 1/2 MOA. Changing the turret lettering without actually changing the knobs was IOR's half-assed way of 'Americanizing' their scopes a few years back. They did the same thing with the older model 2.5-10X scopes. As best I can measure the adjustments are actually 1/8 MIL per click. If you crank a lot, this isn't a good scope. If you zero & then hold over/under (using the reticle) they are fine.
Cheers,

If its the scope I am thinking about, its a tank and it was made probably a little more than a few years ago. Its actually FFP, adjustable objective, should have the green illuminated reticle, seen them go for around $500.
