Hero getting sued for helping leo...wtf

Responsibly armed citizen 1 Shitbag 0

Hopefully the jury in the civil trial keeps this trend going.

If someone finds a link to donate to the FOP raising money.......share it.

Think the head of the FOP set up the go fund me page for her. I clicked on a link in the article to see it. Not sure how they work though. Local NRA chapters banquet is in 2 weeks, hope they got something set up where I know she would get all of the donation.

They are probably hoping for an offer of an out of court settlement so they can cash out. My guess is they don't really expect to win if it goes to court, but they do figure on an out of court settlement offer. Unfortunately, the state will probably do the math, and realize that if they offer some out of court settlement, it will save the state some money.

It is frustrating to realize that the family of the guy that got killed is probably right to expect an out of court settlement offer. Unfortunately, that is the legal system under which we live.

screw this. I will donate. I have very close experience with a brother who used to be hooked on meth. clean for about 14+ years now.
I always expected to get the call he was dead from the drugs or how the hell ever he supported his habit. Thank goodness and I would not have been surprised. I sure as hell wouldn't have sued anyone. This is just part of whats wrong with our fine republic.

I think the family doing the suing and there dirtbag lawyer should be on the hook for ALL cost after they lose! As unknown said though the state will likely settle out of court. Just hope she doesnt.

Need to follow this and how it ends up. Bugs the shit out of me when there is no follow up story.
If it even goes to court i would be shocked.
If the citizen who fired the shot has to pay one fucking cent it will just be one more brick in the wall.
I would counter sue for raising a piece of shit And not keeping it on a leash.

I will definitely keep everyone up to date on anything that happens with this. Hopefully next thing you here is it gets thrown out of court. This is one jury I'd love to be on if not! What pieces of shit, mentality these days, everyones fault but the one wholy responsible.

Quit coon huntin a few years ago because the theiving got so bad around here. Any time someone saw a light at night thought it was a meth head trying to steal your stuff. Wasn't a welding lead safe in sight. Getting a little better but still don't leave the doors unlocked when your at work, thats when they hit now.

Does Indiana have a "Good Samaritan " type statute?

Wyoming does.....

CHAPTER 1 - GENERAL PROVISIONS AS TO CIVIL ACTIONS

1-1-101. Provisions to be liberally construed.

The Code of Civil Procedure and all proceedings under it shall be liberally construed to promote its object and assist the parties in obtaining justice. The rule of common law that statutes in derogation thereof must be strictly construed has no application to the Code of Civil Procedure, but this shall not be so construed as to require a liberal construction of provisions affecting personal liberty, relating to amercement or of a penal nature.

1-1-120. Persons rendering emergency assistance exempt from civil liability.

(a) Any person licensed as a physician and surgeon under the laws of the state of Wyoming, or any other person, who in good faith renders emergency care or assistance without compensation at the place of an emergency or accident, is not liable for any civil damages for acts or omissions in good faith.

I suppose the definition of "emergency care or assistance" might be up for argument in the instant case above...

This should have never been accepted by the Judge. When this gets dismissed, the bar should take steps to sanction this lawyer and if he pulls this shit again yank his license. If the Judge allows it, they need to be voted out next go around.

We have a real problem with Lawyers policing themselves. Much like Congress, you cannot trust them to clean up their own house, they need outside supervision.
