Cause you never know when they'll be gone

This morning I lost a friend, his wife woke up to find him dead from a heart attack.

I just shot some clays with both of them yesterday morning, laughing, giving each other fist bumps for every target smoked and crap for every missed one. Now he's gone and she's a widow.

Fuck this I need to grab some more rum.......

    Pirate,

My condolences on losing your friend. We'll say a prayer for all of you. Be content in the knowledge that you had one, last, badass day w/ your friend doing what y'all like doing best; spending quality time together w/ family & shooting. Your friend didn't suffer a long, drawn out painful sickness that left him a shell of his former self. Remember him as he was on his last day, which was full of life.

A man is only dead if nobody remembers him.

Please accept my condolences as well, another chink in the armor, so to speak. Better than shitting mustard in an old folks home though.

My condolences as well, and a damn shame. Lost my best friend when we were both in our middle 30's. Had a great weekend of shooting planned we did, and MIL calls to inform me that he was found dead on the kitchen floor. Sometimes hard to get events like that and this one straight in your head. Hang in there.

I wish you and his nothing but the best in recovering from his passing. Having lost many in my life I know too well the pain of loss and the ensuing feelings. There is no course of instruction, nor are we really wired, to deal with this. Yet we do. Carry on as best you can and honor him by enjoying the things you two enjoyed together. This is yet another example of "enjoy what you have, for it may not last forever'. Best to you and his.

    .

    So true, thank you.

My sincerest condolences Pirate. Prayers said for his family and friends.
It cant be said any better than what Waterwalker said. What a great last memory of a good friend.
I always tell my wife and kids, that when I'm gone, remember me how I lived, not how I died.

    Thank you all.

This group lives up to the motto "no better friend, no worse enemy"

I'd be proud to drink, sweat, fight, and bleed along every one of you.

4.5 yrs ago I lost one of my best friends from a heart attack. He was a great friend and a mentor being 17 yrs older than me.
I have done a few things since that I know he would be very proud of and its fun to remember his cackling laugh and how he would be laughin and celebrating.
It hurts and it gets easier to remember the best times and not the suck of losing them.
    Prayers again brother.
