How good is the "stock" stock

I have a 70's vintage Winchester Mod 70 in 7 mag that has had the action and barrel recoil lug bedded. I REALLY like this synthetic stock. It recoils more like a 30-30 than a 7 mag, it's remarkable.

My build is going to be for 1k yard shooting.

My Q is, if I hog out the fore end (or chop it off... I'll never use a sling on it) and float my new barrel, what am I gaining and or losing by keeping it? I would REALLY hate to spend a lot of bucks on a new stock that doesn't fit and handle as well as this one does.

TIA,

Gary

Does the forend flex and touch the barrel? If so I would hog it out tape the barrel for clearance and fill the forend with Devcon. Thirty dollars for devon vs 250 plus for a new stock wins in my book.
