I was looking into that a couple days ago.
It seems like a pretty interesting system for replacing most of your Technocrat controlled "cloud" services with something you own, operate and control.

As far as other cool projects go, there is some work underway to have a much more decentralized version of the web where it's all peer to peer and held across multiple places to avoid a couple big guys having control over all the data hosting.

I recently have heard that an entity is looking hard into a blockchain operated open source internet. Supposedly, one would be able to opt out of having their online data shared, or choose to get paid in a cryptocurrency in exchange for letting their data be used.
