I recently bought a remington 5R and its all ready to go except for the recoil pad... I was told it was just a matter of cutting off the old recoil pad and unscrewing the screws an installing the new recoil pad which in this case is a Limbsaver recoil pad. Well I cut it off an the effin thing seems to be epoxied on...... WTF!!!! I've tried everything to take it off but I just cant.... Help me...

Tried that, never worked for me. I banged and banged on that thing nonstop, using all the tips online. Nada.

I ended up literally sawing off the rear part of my buttstock to do the work I wanted to do, than epoxied it back on using Marine Tex. Works great!

Re: How to remove recoil pad?!

I have a friend who did the freezer thing on his stock and he said he knocked his old pad off but it took him a while. Personally I think a bandsaw would be the way to go for removing it IMHO

Re: How to remove recoil pad?!

i called HS a while back and they told me ( and it works ) use a heatgun on the area the buttpad and stock meet, when hot use a putty knife ( or whatever ) and work the seam open. i have done this to two stocks, one of them 4 days ago. and then gule on a new one.
