I keep putting off a Howa purchase, but now they are producing a 26" threaded model in 6.5 CM - looking pretty tempting...

Any opinions? If mobility isn't a concern, do you get a legitimate velocity increase over the 24" version?

I'm waiting for exactly the same thing to arrive down here in Australia. Ill be getting a 6.5cm 26" threaded hcr. A mate of mine will be getting the 24" non threaded hcr in 6.5cm very soon. I'll be sure to give a range report.

There definately will be measurable increase with 2 extra inches. Maybe about 50 fps give or take depending on projectile and powder. Check out this link:

I already own 308 varmint and 300wm howa. They are both great shooters. I wouldnt hesitate to get another one.

That link is flawed. You don't lose velocity with the 140s past 24".

Get the 26". No issues with mobility and any extra velocity is a plus especially with factory ammo. I run 27" and 28" with brakes and no issues getting around matches.
