I need to order some pants for hunting in a week or so. Weather should be dry, no snow or rain but that is always possible at 10k feet elevation and day time temps should be 30 to 50ish *. I dont need camo pants really but dont mind ordering them in MultiCam or a Kryptek pattern. My limit is about $250 for pants, I was thinking of going with the Otte Gear OTTE GEAR | ... but not sure if these are suitable for hunting. I have two of their jackets and like them a lot. I dont really need a hard shell pant at the moment and will be wearing layers.

Save the 250 and put that towards ammo.. or porn. Pull out a pair of pants you own and have fun.

I wouldn't just pick any pair of pants you own...you want fast drying in the high country so avoid cotton. Rain/sleet is always possible at 10k. I've been real happy with my sitka ascent, and kuiu attack pants. You can get these for much less than 250. First lite makes good stuff too. This time of year I wouldn't go heavier than those, as its easy to get heated up hiking in that environment. Take some merino base layers, jacket, and rain gear(never leave it) and you're good to go.

<sigh> Yes, cotton kills. What I was attempting to say was that there are plenty of pants out there that don't cost 250 and that are not cotton. Plenty of them are 40 to 80$ and they are high end. I bought a windproof jacket, maybe 9 years ago and it's still going strong. I where it every winter. I paid 35$. I also paid 350$ for pants and jacket which are anything proof and top of the line and would be exceptional for altitudes up to 16k and I've worn them once.

The kryptek cadog pants are amazing. Water resistant, fleece lined, and the pockets are well thought out. By far my new favorite pants

So how important is camo on hunting clothes? My jacket is green and Ill be wearing a blaze orange vest and hat/beanie to comply with Colorado regs. Can I get away with a solid color for pants or is camo to break up my lines important?

Sitka! Right now I am hunting same day temps 25-85 degrees and their gear keeps my comfortable all day

As far as camo is concerned - movement/scent is much more critical than blending in - this is one Iphone photo 75 yards caught in the open - I made like a sage brush and a few of the 400 plus in the herd looked at me, but only after I dropped one - they just kept walking as I had the wind and kept perfectly still sitting in front of Sage - and I was not wearing camo that day
