Looking for a High Quality Hunting/ Target scope with great glass and enough Turret Travel for 1000 yards. Scope is going on a Defiance Deviant Tactical with 20MOA rail. 6.5 Creedmoor... I'm open to other suggestions as well but these are the man scopes I've had interest in. I know prices are different ranges for each I have Military/Leo discount for these Companies so with that in mind I can spend a little extra.

I'm impressed with the VX-6 line of scopes and even more so with the HD version. I always found the VX-6 quality close to the Swarovski Z5 line and the VX-6 HD is pushing very close to the Z6 line to my eyes.

Leupold's reticle choices has always been the limiting factor. The TMOA helps with holdover but see they also have the Impact-29 reticle but never got behind one.

Nighforce's SHV is another good scope, but like the optics on the VX-6 HD better. I also would prefer the higher top end that the Leupold offers.

No experience with either the VX-5 HD or PST Gen II. The PST was a good scope for the money, but unless the glass has changed, it isn't in the same category as the VX-6 HD or SHV.

What's the major difference btw mark vs vx lines?

mark is their "tactical" line and vx is more hunting . i have a vx 6 and would not recommend it for major range use. for hunting, it works just fine but the turrets are mushy and not impressive. i would not want to spend a day dialing them, id feel like they would fall apart. the vx6hd line seems to fit the bill and im quite interested in them. on paper they seem great.

like said above the AMG is where its at

Is AMG a better bang for the buck than the HD?

i have very limited experience with the AMG, i just received mine yesterday. i do own 2 vortex gen 2 razors and love them, they just arent practical for my style of hunting. they are large and heavy. the AMG is just a smaller, lighter version of the gen 2 razor so IMO it is a perfect cross over for the long range hunter/shooter. i have no experience with the leupold hd lines other then what ive read. they seem to have what we want. durability and tracking would be my only major question at hand.

the only reason id take the amg over any other scope is the razor gen 2 is proven to be a very stout reliable scope. the hd lines are very new, and there has been issue with leupolds durability in the past.

this tough one for the price range. a max range of 15 ish power is ideal I think. and keeps price down. not a lot of compact options that are cheap.

if you could swing an older March 3-24 for around $2k I don't think there is a better hunting/tacicool scope out there period. that includes the AMG. that scope just plain too big for hunting and you don't need the top end.

the LRHS line is really nice as they have low pro knobs and are smaller and price is good. I would honestly pick whichever I could find a better deal on between that and a Steiner T5 3-15 (prob $1000-$1300 used if you shop around). that scope has been selling really cheap and is a very compact package with great glass and knobs finally fixed.

The Luppy 3-18's (Mark 6) are nice but are closer to the 2k mark and for that I would get the March 10 times outta 10.
and I would stay away from the VX5/6 line. Over priced IMO and both the Bushnell and Steiner will blow it out of the water for features and package as a whole.

DT

Which Razor? Gen 1? I would give glass the easy edge on Gen 1 over this scope. durability and tracking would be a push.
This scope wins for me in size, knobs and rect. If you really did find it for 50% off that would be the scope I would get no questions.
I had the first DMR with 5 mil knobs. Hated that but now they have 10 mil knobs. It is also not a light scope but really not many high end scopes are light (theres a reason they are heavy)

Over everything you listed I would take 2.5-12.5x42 Trijicon Accupoint. Sharper glass than anything except the NF. Easier to look through than anything. But it's the fiber-optic dot that makes it the best scope you can put on a hunting rifle.

Not sure what your upper weight requirement is but if you shop used or maybe your discount is good enough, the NF 4-16 F1 is bomb proof, compact, great glass and elevation turret and reticle is very useable at 4x. It's kinda chunky for size (32 oz I think) but I really like this scope.

At 14.8" there is nothing 'compact' with the SHV...
