Howdy guys,
I don't post much because I don't know a lot and if I am not 100% sure my reply is correct, I won't post!! I am trying to locate a Wheeler Eng. Drill and Tap fixture for a 93-95 SR Mauser action! I can't find one anywhere to buy or Rent!! I cannot afford to buy a Foster so I am kinda lost!! I would buy a home made one if the person says it is perfect to get the job done to the center bore!!
I would be great full, for any and all help!
Thanks for your time.
Greg

Re: I am in need of some help?

Good luck. We have one and wouldn't get rid of it. For some reason they quit making them and finding one is like finding a sober virgin at ASU. There was someone who made a similar clone and sold it on ebay. But haven't seen them in a while. Where in KS are you at?

Re: I am in need of some help?

If you're just talking about D&T'ing the receiver, and you have access to a mill, it shouldn't be too hard to make a simple jig to do the job. Basically, make a "V" cut down the center of a block of aluminum, the mill a chunk out of the center, and then drill and tap the center. Make a plate that fits the bolt rails for the SR Mauser (along the long axis of the ejection port) and drill two clearance holes that align with the drilled and tapped holes in the bottom of your jig (the section milled out of the V cut block).

Put the plate on the top side of the bolt rails, then put the action into the jig and tighten the screws. If the jig is square, and the holes are center (along the long axis), then when you tighten down, the receiver will be pulled to TDC. Square the jig on your mill table (to run true along the X axis) and then index off the receiver and move over one half the diameter of the receiver, less half the diameter of the indexing tool.

Easy peezy, right?

Probably cost you about $20 in scrap aluminum to make...and you'll have a jig for the next action that comes in that needs the receiver D&T'ed...

Re: I am in need of some help?

I have an old B-square jig I might be able to let you use if you need it. I use alternative methods for Mausers and the like these days. PM if interested in working something out.

Re: I am in need of some help?

I think I have answer all the pm's and I am very great full for the replies! I am telling you all the truth that I have no training I just do what I can! I love guns and have been playing with them for over 35 years and PLAYING is all I have done.
Thanks for the advice, if anyone else has any advice I sure you be great full!
