I can see this ending badly in so many ways....

Yea so many nurses killed in mental hospitals every year from the patients.

I’ll qualify this statement by saying if the person is armed than this changes everything.

police responding to a mental health crisis is not the correct tool. Each tool has its use. You don’t use a sledge hammer for finish carpentry

Plenty of experience with people with mental
Health issues.

I’d be willing to find middle ground with you that Leo could be on scene out of sight, but I’d let a mental health professional take lead on an unarmed person and call you in if necessary.

The social worker refused to socialize while the man was armed.

When you escalate damn near at the point of contact, they often do.

Honestly, that’s the mindset that gets you a pre-crimes department, and fuck that. Plus these nut wranglers know the job they signed up for.

I’ve seen this shit happen, someone calls the cops of some bum acting a little odd, but no crime, cops come down and try to cuff the bum “for officer safety” right away, from there it goes down hill, and who cares, bum can’t afford a lawyer and doesn’t have a clear enough mind to make trouble for the cop anyways.

I mean what’s the cop going to do, the bum isn’t doing anything illegal, but if you go hands on right away they will resist, as most anyone would when they didn’t do anything wrong, boom arrested for resisting.

What did this do? Well cost tax payers money, probably made the bums mental issues worse, and they’ll be just let go again because no legit crime, and bum will be mental worse for it, and probably act more violent when confronted next time.

Treating health issues like crimes is very puritanical and stuuuuupid
Insert citizen in place of bum and you have the current state of affairs. Hmm were are all the stats on red flag law gun grabs?

Like I said in both posts, being armed is completely different. Really sad.

So they want to defund the police and then replace them with rent a cops? As far as the social worker thing I agree 100 percent. Since the only social worker that would be willing to go out to deescalate a nut job is some libby libtard I say let em, and when the nut job flips his lid I say the cops, if they are there, should stand down and let the situation sort itself out. After the 20th social worker has had his ass handed to him ( at least 20 cause these people are truly the clay of the earth) that shit would end.

What’s the difference? Rent a cop, gov a cop, both are useless

You should read about the police specials in San Francisco. They are like the oldest law enforcement in the state, I believe. It's pretty wild. Kind of a hybrid police/private, but they buy rights to basically offer a protection racket in arious neighborhoods from the real police who then certify them.

I don't imagine this will leave CA, but God knows how many times that has been said over history.
I saw that movie. "Cuffs" with Christian Slater

🤣😂🤣😂

I recall a local incident about 40 years ago. A guy was in a business when the owner called security and told them he had an active warrant. Mall cop arrives and tells guy he can't leave and must wait for police. Guy tells him to FO. Blart grabs the guy and gets pounded for his trouble. Eventually, the assault charges are dismissed and the security company paid the guy to drop his lawsuit.

The warrant was mistaken identity.

Cops have as much business defusing a mental health issue as they do bringing a loose zoo animal call to a humane happy ending.

They're the last people to call. In fact, don't call them at all, ever, for anything.

Tell the city-folk that when they call the police when their neighbor blows leaves into their yard.

People in the mental health business work in a controlled environment. You could never make a MH response unit work without people on scene to control a person who needs help, but doesn't want it. Having worked EMS 30 years a person goes from passive and cooperative to raging lunatic in seconds and you think some volunteer or psychologist is going to subdue a 250# lunatic?? Nope, never going to happen. So people will continue to call 911 and nothing will ever change.
The real problem is true inpatient treatment institutions are desperately needed, but instead it's ignored and they wander among us until they snap and the cycle repeats itself. The homeless for the most part are living with some sort of mental illness untreated, while the idiots who run the country think they just need a better place to "camp", it's fucking ridiculous................

Also, the in patient places that aren’t state run (which are shit holes), which are few around here, are crazy expensive. If you have insurance they want your whole deductible up front, if you don’t have insurance it’s lots and lots of thousands upfront.

A shooting buddy of mine was with APD. He would ask me to go on ride alongs or go on foot patrols with him, which included crowd control down on 6th St. in Austin whenever there was an excuse for a street party. For some reason, Mardi Gras type scenarios are a shit magnet for the homeless and getting the cops called on them for public intoxication and lewd, aggressive behavior made up the majority of the arrests.

There was always an APD wagon on every block and they'd just open the back doors and toss those fuckers in until it was full and they'd take them to jail. Rinse and repeat. Cops do serve a purpose in that regard, plus breaking up the fights and assaults.

Have gun, will travel.... is coming again.
Black Knights with armor in a savage land.......................Their fast guns for hire heeds the calling windbags..........Soldiers of fortune are the men of............... Blackwater.......Blackwater, Blackwater where do you roam?..............Blackwater, Blackwater far far from home...............

Play, of course, on that great tv show Paladin.

BW likes to change their name alot, due to their negative p.r. Now called Constellis and have had at least 3-4 name changes.

Yes exactly my point, it's rinse and repeat, look the other way and pretend it's not happening. My area is not big city but I really do have compassion for the people and families that have to endure this day in day out because they live in a liberal run city with morons who run it in the ground.
I know it's easy to say "just move" but it's not as simple as it seems sometimes for obvious reasons. The "normals" have to get to their breaking point and say enough it enough but probably is because of a seriously dangerous encounter that lights the fuse and the search for a safe haven begins......
sad anyway you cut it.
