I got the Green light to Re-barrel my rifle at work. Now im trying to decide the variables.

Was thinking it would be something like this;
Rem 700 L/A action(Already Have) With .705 Race ID
PT&G bolt (.70425 Ground OD)
Bartlein/Kreiger BBL finished at 30" 1.25-1" Straight taper
(need ideas on twist for shooting 142SMK/140VLD)
Chambered in 6.5X284 OR 6.5X47L(ideas?)
Manners' New F-Class Stock
Tight neck and Long throat Chambering
Timney Tactical Trigger
Sinclair Int'l F-Class Bipod

Ideas/Opinions?

Forgot to add, this will be used for F-class/Steel shooting 90% of the time, and LR hunting (cornfield hunting no carrying this one around the woods!)

If the 6.5x284 go with the 8.5 twist. If you are going 6.5x47 Lapua and you want to shoot the 140 weight bullets I would bump it to 1-8 twist.

Take a look at one of the CG two stage triggers. One of the guys got one here for a F-Class build and we both like it a lot.

if you've got a long action, make the best of it and go with the 6.5x284.

Have Frank Green (Bartlein Barrels) make your barrel. I think that his ideas and the quality of his barrels are the best way to go.

For what it's worth, your barrel will make the final decision if it likes the 142 gr. SMK's or the 140 gr. VLD's or even the Lapua 139 grain Scenars.

with a heavy bullet it sounds like a very nice long range plinking rifle. 6.5 x 58 or a little longer would be an easy 3,000 fps slinger.
