I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

You can tell that DBD has not shot Geissele gas gun matches that are scored time plus. Nobody dials! You don’t have time! Why does everyone think that the way they like something should be the holy grail for everyone else. Sheesh.
I actually shot one this year using a ZCO 420 with MCPT1X. Time outs arent due to not having a tree, its due to being fat, broken and slow. Oh and the first time shooting that type of format. Finding the hidden targets is half the battle.

I doubt a tree would have helped my slow times anyway. Didn't have time this season but plan to shoot a bunch next year. Not planning on using a tree reticle either.

Getting off on thin ice here. (Not being a Vortex man) However, on the subject of Christmas tree reticles. I really like them, especially the Leupold PR2. Here’s the issue. I never use it. I hold off, measuring from the hash marks on the cross hairs and that’s it.

A picture in my mind from this weekend. Shooting a thousand yard stage. A no dial stage to boot. Five shots at the 1000 yard target. After I figured out the wind, scored three hits in a row on that target. (That’s a really good thing for me, maybe not you but for me, its something to write home about) I see that silhouette in my mind, I held just above the #3 on the Verticle crosshair and the wind hold had the verticle cross hair just past the edge of the target. Never once thought of using the Christmas tree. The scope was set for the short range target allowing a hold of 3.2 mils above the center of the crosshair.

So, yes, I can see just having mil marks on the cross hairs and forget the rest. In fact, our one and only Vortex, on my wife’s .22 gun has that type of reticle and it works fine.

Before you ask, being a Leupold man, why am I here? Because I am always open to new ideas and new/different products. Can’t know unless you look.

I dialed for elevation and held for wind when I shot International F TR Class

I love the Christmas Tree type reticles for all field and timed events. It’s so much faster and the Vortex MilRad ret just is easy as can be to use.

This scope is designed for Gss Guns and field use the simple straight up and down only lines would not be near as nice for the intended purpose

I don’t shoot the PRS but if I did I would be using a 6-36 Mil Rad and dialing for the small targets

I don’t have a problem watching trace or hits with the Vortex MilRad ret

Maybe think about using it, practice with it and then use it in a match and you will probably like it even more.

Hopefully Nov/Dec was what I had heard for availability. no details/specs.

just to reiterate what has been said in the thread and guessed:
4-24x44?
34mm tube?
~31oz?
EBR-7D reticle?
Hard to know for sure from just a couple of photos. :) So far it seems like with recent products when they are launched they are available for purchase if not then, in a very short time frame.

Its more than likely just going to be this with vortex’s reticle

I did email Vortex to ask for a non-tree ret. Used their contact form with “General Inquiry”. Got an immediate response from Ken.

It was said here already, but Ken mentioned the fact that most people buy tree reticle when given the option. I dont think that takes into account the fact that they’d still sell more scopes overall with more reticle options, since undoubtedly some stay away due to the lack of options.

If you want a non-tree reticle, blow them up today!

So have I. All are 4-25. Odd that so many scopes are coming out in that odd mag range. 30MM tubes/34MM tubes. I will, of course, bow to Koshkin’s expertise, but I just find it odd. Most scopes are 5-25 with 56MM objectives. It’s seems to me that it would be cheaper to just build them to same magnification specs and change the tube size and occular size. But that’s just me.

If anyone is close to a Vortex Dealer, we got our introductory email about these this morning. Can't post anything here as we are "sworn to secrecy", but if you are really curious, I bet if you called a brick and mortar Dealer they would relay some pertinent information.

Great news. Means it won’t be too much longer before hitting the streets!

Don't need it.

Lots do though and they have to make them for the majority.

Just talked to my buddy that's a rep and he said should be out in a few weeks.

Yup Mike Miller won that intel battle with his being then and mine saying third quarter. Of well it’s close now and getting excited.

Yeah no shit. I was just expressing a personal preference. I am fully ready to accept something with stadia above the center! LOL

Well with all the other complaining about reticles in here they should offer a custom reticle service like the old Leupolds and see who is ready to drop their money on their perfect reticle lol

“Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

If you do have time. Check out the Tract Eagleman reticles coming out. Also the turrets are for old fucker eyes that I have to admit means my sorry ass now, but I like the look of low pro turrets…

Yeah I saw it when they were bombarding over at Long Range Hunting forum. I’d rather have the original Tract reticle.

Hearing 32 oz and 12.5” long
These were supposed to be 30oz! Why is it so fn hard to make a good ffp scope sub at 29oz or less? I don't get it. The NX8 needs to become a NX6 5-30 or 4-24, and use the same glass thats in thr 7-35/4-20 models. That would get rid the depth of field issues and the edge clarity those models suffer from.

Agreed, at 32oz I start to lose interest. Was hoping for less than 31ozs. May end up with the delta Stryker 3.5-21. Was hoping for Vortex support and that sweet FDE TANO for a reasonable weight cross over scope.

Pretty sure 31 ounces was the weight being talked about in this thread so 32 is not some huge difference. It’s 1 ounce. lol It’s still a good weight at 32 ounces for what most all will use it for. Let’s not get all worked up over an ounce. lol
Don't stop all the fun for the guys here with popcorn listening to people argue about negligible weight. Wait till they hear that it is slightly heavier than 32.0 oz

You’re right it was 31 oz’s. For NRL every ounce does matter, currently running a 28.5oz 3-18 but wanted a lil more mag. Ive got a few ounces to play with but 32 likley puts me over.

Still think there is a market for it just less interest from me for my use case is all. Compared to the other razors this is a featherweight and I still think is a good step for Vortex. I may just have to wait and see if we get a new Razor LHT for Vortex to fit my use case.

Mk5hd 525 is 31oz. The delta Stryker pedigree that this gen3 is built on, weighs 29oz. 4-16 NF is 30oz. March 4.5-28 is under 30. This scope is quickly flopping from new hotness to more of the same old shit. Kinda like how Trump ran on a truth/America first campaign, just to find out he's going to do nothing but protect politicians, epsteins clients, and the deep state.

You’d have a point if Vortex was happy allowing potential customers to go buy others makers scopes. But they dont, they want to sell you one of their scopes.
