I think we should bring back public hanging

I was working in the Persian Gulf in ‘87 when a guy got busted dealing drugs. He was tried and convicted, and they marched him down to the square and cut his head off. No shit. On the flip side, there was a young couple who were to be married by a family arrangement. Don’t remember the exact details, but one of them was in love with someone else, so they ran off and got married to the person that they were in love with. Their family stoned them to death. There is righteous punishment, but sometimes I just shake my head.

It should start with bringing back corporal punishment in grade school, preferably at an assembly of the student body.
Once you reach the 9th grade, bring in caning, again, in front of the student body.
After 18, public caning along with public service AFTERWARDS.
If that don't work...a small concrete room with few amenities for crime that does not involve a fatality.
Involved in a crime that resulted in a fatality? Death. Even if the fatality was your accomplice or not directly related to your actions.
Death by hanging in public, televised. Be sure to show that they shit down their leg and pissed themselves.

People need to see this. Actions have consequences. Life is not always pretty.

Prove me wrong
And it should be quick. Arest on Monday. Trial on Tuesday. See clergy on Wednesday. Contemplate on Thursday. Final words/hanging on Friday.

Of the class of people who commit capital crimes none are likely to be deterred by what might happen in 13 years. But Friday? Everybody has something better (than hanging) that they would rather do next Friday.

This guy is advocating for the government sanctioned and administered assault on our kids with a straight face. Are you a democrat or taliban party member?

As screwed up as our police and courts are. I'll pass.
Trump would have been executed last year with the current system. Think about how many Jan 6 people were denied access to the videos that would have proved them innocent but the government claimed national security risk if they produced the videos or they claimed that video evidence didn't exist. How about what the government did to Gen Flynn?

I believe that executions should be used as a deterrent. If need be, put them on pay-per-view to generate money for the families of the victims. There'd be a couple that I'd pay to watch. 150 years ago, people would travel for miles just to watch a public hanging in this country.

Obviously, I believe in due process... but in an example like the Ukranian girl/bus incident, that dude should have had his neck stretched before he needed his first meal. In before a juge > Watched video > Sentenced > Walked outside the courthouse and up to the gallows.

I'm all for the death penalty, but we better make damn sure they're guilty, just look at how many death penalty cases have been overturned in the last ten years,Rodney Reed ain't one of them though that bastard should have been executed years ago.

Really needs to be an expedition clause for capital punishment when irrefutable DNA and/or video evidence is used for the initial conviction. 20 years ago those forms of identification/evidence existed far less, but not in today's America.

Also, screw the 'mentally competent' B.S. If the offender isn't capable of assimilation into society without demonstratedly being *violent* and deadly toward others, he/she needs to be euthanized anyway. This is NOT an argument for removing the mentally handicapped... it is an argument for removing the violent offenders. The stupid legal system is guilty of placing that 'mentally handicapped' banner over the perpetually violent. It is a garbage way to try to deflect blame.

I believe in physical castration for aggravated sexual assault too while we're at it, and capital punishment for the sexual assault of a child.

Both the pro death penalty and the anti death penalty side want to see public executions.... both for different reasons, of course.

The pro side wants to use it as a deterrent. The anti side wants to use it to demonstrate how "cruel and unusual" the punishment is. i think it's why they try to condemn lethal injection because it's so "humane" when done correctly.

TBH, I don't favor "public" executions. Our justice is in the form of the death sentence itself. I just need to know (from the witnesses) that it was done and done properly. Not that I'm afraid of witnessing death. I've seen quite a bit of it as a retired EMT. One moment a guy is talking to me, and the next..... total silence. He's gone. If you blinked, you'd miss it. I'm just not happy with all the schadenfreude the public would get from witnessing it.

Oh don't worry buddy!! Chanel has a pattented Guilotine that's coming to a city square near you to behead all those that don't take the mark. Just relax. You'll see it here soon......Or be gone with the rest of the church, I hope for your case.
