what would you want to include in the build to make this the ultimate shooter?

Am considering having one built within the next 12 months and am trying to cover all the bases in terms of incorporating the essentials, plus some extras to make this a great shooter. However, as my golfing buddies tell me, "Take lessons, don't buy new clubs". Probably a whole lot of truth there, but I am still gonna have a custom .260 built! So what would be part of your dream gun in this caliber?

Re: If you were having a .260 built

If possible, go and shoot some different rifles.....260 or not.

First custom gun I had built.....I got it wrong. Not in performance but for my purpose it was not what I needed/wanted.

One expensive lesson but not a total loss. Second rifle, I got 100% correct for me.

What are your needs?
How will it be used?
Great deals here in the classifieds if you can find a match.

What 5R said......there is no way I'd build a custom gun until I've actually shot the cartridge, and layed behind a rifle of the same stock I'm going to go with.

Re: If you were having a .260 built

best way to learn it to try it. cheapest way to try one is to shoot your buddies. second cheapest is to find a good used one on the classifieds, if you don't like it sell what you don't like and replace with new parts. just like with new cars losing 10-15% of value once you drive them off the lot, new guns those first couple hundred rounds will cost you about the same, so why not by used and save some bucks. the hide has been a great resource for me without it i couldn't have tried so many different stock, actions, calibers.

Send It!!!

what 5redman8 said, what are you trying to do with it? If you are going to shot the heavies, I would do a 1-8 twist krieger #10 contour, mcmillan a-5, or AICS stock, I enjoy both but prefer the AICS. premier heritage glass, 20 moa base, shilen trigger.
