I have some new IMI brass I purchased years ago. Annealed necks, headstamp is IMI, 223, REM and no nato markings.

I weighed several and compared weights to LC brass. LC brass is on average about .2 grain lighter.

I was wondering whether IMI is military because if so I want to reduce starting powder charge accordingly.

IMI brass I have/had loaded very similar to Winchester & LC.

What bullet and powder are you using?

I'm working on a few different loads and powders and bullets.
Want to see what my new rifle likes best.

So far have used BLC2 with both 55grain remington fmjbt/cannalure and 69grain SMK with 24.5 grains 25 and 25.5 grains. So far 25grains seem pretty good.

I have 748 and H335 along with 77g SMK and 62g goldenwest.com bullets, which dimensionally mearsure very close to each other, in other words consistent. Unlike some armscor 62 grains I had used which were not accurate at least with the load I was using.

So far I've just used the LC brass but I think I'll try some IMI.

IMI I thought was israeli military industries.

If it weighs withing two tenths of what you have been using why change your charge at all? I guess you could fill some with water to check capacity but I'd think .2 grains is close enough for farm work.

Yes IMI is Isreali Military Industries. It's military and pretty much LC. I've loaded mil-spec WCC, IMI and LC along with BHA (made by WCC by the way) and PMC to compare them and they have shot the same POI and velocity. The question I can't answer is why some LC and WCC is marked for NATO (x'd circle) and some isn't.
