I have a Shooting Chrony Beta master that has been tucked away for years since I haven't had the time to reload. Anyways I dug it out today and threw a fresh 9v in and it still works.

However I am getting some pretty bad readings on my 6.5cm with factory loads. I don't know if I just chalk it up to bad QC, since everything is in overdrive, or if its time to start shopping for a new chronograph.

My hornady American Gunner 140gr was running 2,490-2,591fps. ES of 101 fps.

Hornady ELDx was 2,479-2,599fps. ES 120fps.

It was set up on a tripod at 15' from the muzzle.

I also shot a string of Federal 168gr GMM. Which had a ES of 44fps.

What do you think? Ammo or Chronograph?

Lighting is everything with optical chronos. Best results are on overcast days but while there’s still good light available. But even under ideal conditions they can’t hang with Magnetospeed or Labradar for accuracy.
