Inmate requests firing squad execution

Re: Inmate requests firing squad execution

Gary Gillmore style, for sure.

Lucky bastard will get a fast and painless death, while the rest of us will rot into death, suffering the whole way.

Gut shot and a very slow death!

Re: Inmate requests firing squad execution

I never understood the whole Eighth Amendment towards firing squads or lethal injection, but yet the electric chair was okay. The electric chair was a horrible way to die! Not that I'm against rapists and child molesters getting that treatment, just saying how can one of the most sadistic forms of capital punishment in US history not fall under the Eighth Amendment.

A 30 cal bullet to the head fired from 20 yards or so is probably one of the quickest ways to go. Assuming you get shot in the head. It has to be better than lying infront of a mirrored window of viewers. If people want to see you leave this world then give them something to watch.

Re: Inmate requests firing squad execution

I don't know what the guy did to get the sentence but I'm torn. On one hand I say go ahead and shoot him. At the same time though, since that's what he wants I'm tempted to say, "fuck him". Let's kill him a way that he doesn't want. Why should he get to decide he's not on death row for giving a shit about someone else.

I'm all for the death penalty. As far as being cruel and unusual, well I think it should be based on the crime that got them there. For example, if some lowlife scumbag beat an elderly woman to death with a bat. He should not get to take a shot in the arm and go to sleep. It should hurt.

Back in college a girl in one of my classes gave a speech about how expensive the death penalty process is and how it should be abolished, etc. I sort of smirked and the Prof. noticed. He asked if I had anything to add. I said, "Rope costs 27 cents a foot and you can reuse it." The professor, a retired Deputy let out a "Ha!" and the girl doing the presentation looked at me like I'd just drowned a pillow case full of puppies.

Re: Inmate requests firing squad execution

i am all for Capital punishment.

However, what is it they say about training your dog, and your children? If you do not punish them IMMEDIATELY it has no effect.

That applies to humans as well.

In this PC world, it's a lost cause. Canada, Alaska - a life sentence is 6 years before the crook is back out on parole.

So the History channel showed the inventor of the Guillatine - he got the axe too.......everyone was getting it and capitol punishment was abolished shortly thereafter for that reason - abuse of power.....

Don't think it could not come back to the US - that's what paople have a fear of.

There have been a few innocent people on death row lately that were nowhere near the crime scene but shoddy detective work and getting a prosecution count mattered more than justice.

Knowing MOST have to sit in an 8x8 cell getting Bubba every night - that works better - they get to suffer.
Although some make a career out of being institutionalized - it's the only discipline they were ever taught.

In this case, This man stood up and took ownership and wants to go down in flames- let him.
