This is a very interesting read about a man with a fascination, a technical mind and a whole lot of drive.
Through years of investigation, analysis and gathering he has created the most accurate representations of the two bombs used on Japan.Atomic John - The New Yorker

I think it's pretty neat stuff - yes a devastating weapon used for destruction is not just macabre but depressing; however the means by which the weapon was achieved, and what we discovered to make it possible is an absolutely astounding achievement. Humans going from stone tools to splitting atoms is nothing short of miraculous. The technology and its development is an incredible testament to human abilities and drive to know more.

I think the article oversimplifies what is necessary to make an atomic weapon. While the principles are easily understood and found in myriad sources, it's a bit of a reach to say a terrorist organization with a few engineers could make a functioning device. Remember, the Germans had the nuclear physics down pat. They were working on an atomic weapon early on in WW2, but they couldn't get the trigger (bomb engineering) part right.

Pretty cool, though the author of the article isnt doing it much justice.

"Pure energy" LOL. Can anyone please explain to me what "pure energy" is?

Energy, in its various forms, is a property, not a material itself. Come on people this isnt Dragonball Z, a little research goes a long way.

Intelligence analysis at its core is the art of puzzle solving. Creating a picture from those pieces of the puzzle you do have, and making your best guesses at the rest. Every new piece you collect brings you all the closer to a less speculative and more factual picture.

Through his research, he discovered a number of "errors" in mainstream information and research on the particulars of the shotgun bomb. Or did he unwittingly unravel 70 years of disinformation? None of us will ever know.

This guy's work might not have made it easy for Mohammed Jihad to build hisself a nukular bomb, but it unquestionably makes it easy-er.
