Is it possible to modify this trigger?

I have a few Savage rifles which I use for LR shooting. They have the accutrigger. I tried a Jewel trigger on a friends rifle and loved it, unfortunately, Jewel doesn't make a trigger for Savage.

Being a cheap bastard, is there a way to modify the accutrigger to make it more crisp? The pull weight seems fine, maybe could go a little lighter, but it's ok except that it doesn't feel "crisp".

Is there a way to improve upon it or am I just polishing a turd?

Yes, there is a way to fine tune it. The fact that you are asking about it here means that it's probably not the job for you (nothing personal - messing with triggers is "messy"). You'll be much happier getting yourself a $100 Timney.

Rifle Basix make a real nice Savage trigger and they are pretty easy to install. They do have good instructions.
