my range ( a sendero right behind a buddys ranch house) is being renovated so went from 100 yds to 78 yds temporarily. i need to sight in sons mod 70 30-06 that is usually sited in 1" high at 100 yds. what diff. will POI be at 78 VS 100 yds using 180 gr sierra RN over 46.0 varget? THANKS

I'd say stick with the inch. At 2600 fps, and 1 inch high (1.09) at 100 yards your zeroed at 150 and 1.05 at 80. Top of the arc is at 90 yards with 1.1 inches. Somewhere around 175 you go an inch below zero. Changing velocity 100 fps either way isn't a big enough change to worry about.
