People forget why he was in Dallas in the first place, it was to shore up the D vote in the area. JFK has been moved into martyr status. Almost saint status. The real truth was he was in trouble politically, and the D-machine had worries about him, his sleeping around was a real worry. His health was also just a tick better then FDR. The mans body was a mess.
Many think Nixon did win, and when he did win it was a landslide. So many thing it was because of the Vietnam war, could be part of it....a big part of it. Personally I think it is because the "fixers" took a hands off on that election, and we saw what happened.
