*JUST RELEASED* Hornady 224 Valkyrie ammo 88gr ELD-M .545 G1 BC 2700fps

224V isn’t particularly large cases or high pressure. It’s 10% more powder than 223 at most, low pressure like 222, with along throat. Barrel life should be similar to heavy bullets in 223.

Is a 1:6.5 twist too fast for this bullet? Remember reading somewhere that a Hornady rep advised against it.

Barrel: Bison Armory 24" Heavy Fluted .224 Valkyrie 1:6.5

Best group I could get with 95 SMK was .75" - with 26.5gr of win760. Tried RL 17 on the 95 SMK too, terrible results.

NO, the 6.5 twist will shoot bullets as light as 55gr and do it very accurately. The twist isn't the problem with accuracy it is the jump the bullet is making before engaging the lands. Try the 88s and 95s at 2.285" OAL, then 2.31" single feed or use PRI mags that have been windowed in the front.
