Hi, i know that is a pretty general statment, and more of personal prefernce. But was wandering what makes them worth it. I was looking at pickin up one of the E3 complete lowers. there are some features that i like on them. Just wanted an opinion. are they any different than colt, or the other forged lowers

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

Of all of my 5.56mm ARs, the SR15E3 is my favorite. Hard to describe why it is worth the money. It is like explaining why my Omega Seamaster is my favorite watch. It is just right in so many ways.

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

Just to clarify, are you looking for only a lower or a complete rifle?

One of the nicest AR's out there IMO. I was surprised at how soft the recoil is on the SR15 for being a relatively light rifle. I would say they are worth every cent.

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

it's easy to explain, it just takes forever because there are so many features that distinguish it

lower features:
ambi selector
ambi bolt release
ambi mag release
(the latter two of which are slightly better imho than the POF/magpul versions)
built-in flush cups for slings
2-stage trigger
kinda cool, comfortable trigger guard, looks a little goofy though

the rest of the gun is equally cool though. i wouldn't get the lower by itself.

the bolt has rounded lugs and the extractor has two springs and inserts in the rear, and the extractor is wider so it engages more of the case rim

the quad rail has front BUIS built into the rail to save weight and space

etc, etc

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

I had one of the first when they were unobtainum and had the matching price, I paid way too much to be the first kid on the block with one.

Now that they are a more abundant and prices have come down I think they are a bargain for what you get and the are in the same price point as other "premium" AR's of which I place it at the top for a do everything AR.

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

Thinking about getting that lower for my Mk 12 upper. 750 bucks tho...
It is the cadillac ar-15 lower, though...
ambi mag release (not really a big deal, but nice)
ambi bolt release... awesome.
trigger is prolly nice, depends on what you like.

Screw it man, do it right once and spend the cash.

-thinking about taking my own advice haha

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

It's the only lower that I will build with now, I'm a lefty so I'm biased but I really, really appreciate the ambi bolt release and ambi mag release. The KAC triggers are nice, but certainly not on the level of GA triggers. The ambi selector is nice as well but certainly not on the level of a BAD-A.S.S. ST(45 degree ambi selector). Fit, and finish on them is perfect as well.

The best of both worlds....

Please keep me updated if you can remember...love to see how it turns out.

LMT and KAC are very close friends and have quite the unique relationship from my understanding. I wish they would quit screwing around and put out a LMT/KAC SE rifle...even though that's basically what we're doing already

Hey pal, they are American Defense Mfg. (ADM) Recon X mounts...I QD extensively and they always RTZ. Awesome service after the point of sale as well. They retail for about $190-200 IIrc. I use one on both my Recce and SPR.

eta..NF1986, care to share the specs of your KAC/MRP combo:)

Re: KAC- sr 15's worth the money ?

To me, yes yes yes. But I'm a KAC fan (username gives that away). If you look hard enough and maybe qualify for special / discount pricing then for sure they are well worth ther money. The prices have all stablized and settled so now it depends on what color SR15E3 you want. Black, green, tan (taupe), or silver (yes silver). Or if you gave a bit more to spend pick up a Magpul version.

I'm sure as the day is long there are just as many haters here but no everyones opinions and likes are the same. That's why we have so much choice.
