I snagged up some Warne Tactical rings and wanted to know if anyone had an idea on how to lap them?

The rings are split vertically rather than horizontally and all the lapping instructions/vid's deal with the traditional top/bottom setup.

I'd appreciate any and all help/suggestions on a lapping mwthod as well as what tool you've used and like.

Thanks,

Re: Lapping Warne rings?

Well truthfully I do not know as I haven't tried to mount a scope in them yet. I just thought that if it wasn't too hard and it could increase the surface contact between the scope and rings, Why not?

I've since recieved a response from Warne and them say that lapping vertically split rings is not necessary.

Anyone have any insight as to why this may be?

Re: Lapping Warne rings?

I've never lapped a set of rings in my life. Never had a scope move on me either, the .50 is a good test. Put some scope rosin powder on the rings and mount em up you will be just fine.

Re: Lapping Warne rings?

The only kind of scope rings i have used are the Warne rings and I never has issues with out being lapped. The Luey that was mounted on my Warne rings never had the ring outlined formed on the scope body and I shot about 400 rounds if not more with that setup. My suggestion is not to worry about it.
