I went through this about a month ago. I left several voice messages and an email with no response. Then I called again and Luke answered. I set up an appointment and made the trip. I mentioned when I was there that I called and left messages and he acknowledged receiving them. Said he was planning to get back to me. When I finally got there and went through the drill it was a great experience all the way around. I’m not sure what to tell you other than to keep trying.

Pretty much the same thing here. I did the sign up online, emailed, and have left voicemails and have not gotten a response over the last three and a half weeks. A friend of mine was down there back in December and said they were super busy so I am trying not to get frustrated with it all.

One item to check is the spam folder in your email. This has occurred to several who were awaiting a response. In addition, please PM me your info and I will follow up w/ Luke on your behalf.

I was keeping a close eye on the spam folders and had not gotten anything, but right after posting this I called again since I know they are really busy and got ahold of Luke to get a time set up. He is a super friendly guy and Im excited to get down there. Thanks for the offer though!

Not only is Luke a great person, but he also has the competitive smallbore background to give useful insight to the testing and results.

I agree with the above statement. I had a great visit and Luke shared a lot of knowledge. I know that he’s busy it’s just unfortunate that the response time is so hit and miss. It seems that calling is the best option and just hope that he picks up. It’s well worth the trip.

Couple things.

First, be sure to read the test centers' procedures and recommendations here, especially the Important Notes. If your rifle is new, Lapua wants you to run 1000 rounds through it before testing.

Second, unless you're very close to the Ohio facility or just want to make the trip for fun, shipping your rifle to the AZ test site is much easier (the Ohio site only takes in-person appointments). My experience with that approach is described in this SH post.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I live relatively close and look forward to attending. In "important notes" that you provided, I've copied from below and it says 200 rounds. So far I'm at 600+ rounds through the tube.

  • If you have a new rifle/barrel, we request 200 rounds through the barrel before sending it in for testing. Accuracy may change if break in period is not complete. Please consult manufacturer for any questions/concerns regarding break in.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure that 1K rounds was advised when I had mine done last spring. At any rate, for me it was a worthwhile thing to have done. I bought enough Center-X to carry me through at least a couple of seasons... glad to have it now, with the shortages.

If you send in your barrels for test can they provide you with ammo from the lot # they prescribe? Lapua 22 is gone like everything else. Just curious if they made any promises about getting you ammo.

They dont sell you the ammo. The ammo is earmarked for them at the warehouse.....you pick one of their distributors abd buy it from them....so if your smart you buy it from someplace like good shooting inc and pay normal prices for it.
The distributor gets a credit and your ammo gets drop shipped from the warehouse to you.

Last center x bricks I bought was from Good Shooting inc, there out. They use to have page after page of lot #’s now they have 3 lots all gone. So is everyone else. I can’t find any

Myself and a Buddy are heading there tomorrow..If we can make it thru the weather coming from Va..You do pick a retailer to pay but the shipment is from Lapua..Good Shooting had the lowest advertised price, so we will use them. Good Shooting also told me there is no shipping charge. So for us it will be $11.20 a box or 1120.00 a case for Center X.

Thanks for posting up numbers man... I am just getting into all of this and have no clue what to expect to pay... this helps a lot! I believe a brick is 500rds -- correct? So how much is in a case? Thanks!

Happy to tell you you're wrong on Good Shooting's Center-X case price - as of a moment ago, it's $1095, or $10.95 per 50 rounds. The $11.20 price is for lesser quantity.

I got my Center-X (both the post-testing Lapua-provided lot and, earlier, samples of other ammo) through Good Shooting. Great people to deal with; imo it's not even worthwhile shopping for better prices when shipping costs etc. are factored in.

Good luck traveling tomorrow. I'm in NC at the southern edge of the predicted ice storm... 45 minutes northeast of me, they're still trying to get power back from the last one, and this one's forecast to be worse.

That is even better! I was told that I couldn't use any "sale" price that is why I said the advertised price. I wasn't sure if the discount for quantity would be considered "sale" price so I was preparing myself (and the Wife) for the worst! haha!

Well, even if the case price is $1120 with free shipping, that's still darned good compared to other vendors - and you'll actually get ammo regardless of GSI's "Out of stock" status!
