I was wondering if anyone has one or heard reviews on Larue's new OBR chambered in 5.56? I read an article in an AR 15 magazine on it but I didn't get much out of it. I'd really like to hear from someone who has put a lot of rounds down the barrel.

I'm in search of a new AR in some sort of SPR configuration. I'm in no hurry to buy one yet, still waiting on LWRCI's new SPR to be released and who knows what will be released after the SHOT show.

    Thanks

Your basically paying 2k for a 10 moa monolithic rail and their "port selector" tech. Thats about the only difference between it and another vendor.

and a good stainless barrel, and 7075 forgings, and a geissele trigger, and magpul furniture, and hard chromed BCG....

I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone it's the end-all-be-all, but it's also irresponsible to imply that it's a DPMS AP4 with a port selector and a mono-rail.

Bribri- I'm not sure if you've figured this out yet, but some people here have some stupidly strong brand loyalty... and others have an equally strong brand hate- both allow their personal tastes to cloud their judgement. Good luck sifting through the bullshit spewing from both sides.

If I were you, I'd just try to get my hands on one- maybe someone will respond who is near you that will let you put rounds through it. Try to get some rounds down range with some of the competition and make a decision for yourself- getting straight honest, objective input on anything Larue on here is an endeavor in the impossible.

    Have fun

lol where did I compare it to a DPMS? Bravo Company would probably be a better comparison.

I had a chance to spend some time with a 16" at the range. No issues hitting steel out to 500. And was 70%+ at 750yds on steel. very accurate ounching paper as well. Easily sub MOA.

I am looking at one for a competition carbine. I really like the handguard and feel it fits my style of shooting.

I ordered one last week, the 18". I am still making decisions on the comp and the trigger. I'm leaning toward having the single stage trigger installed and a compensator.
Will probably go with the MK4 3.5-10x40 for optics.
I will report back when I have it in my hands.
