Does anyone know where I can find one?

I am seriously thinking about getting out of bolt guns altogether based on what I am reading about this thing. I may sell my 20" APA (and it is the sweetest, best shooting rifle I have ever even seen, how crazy is that?)and just do this.

Anybody have one for sale?

Do it. You know you want to join the dreaded "pack".

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

still have the LMT and the OBR, LMT is going bye bye,,,
all BS aside, they are all good platforms,it just boils down to personal taste and features. My MWS doesnt like mil-surp ammo, I dont reload and I have 5k of Radway stashed. The OBR is right at moa with it so its stayin. The REPR (sold) was a 1st Gen gun, we all know they didnt like p-mags at that time, couldnt get a straight answer from LWRC so I dumped it. it was accurate as hell though,,,LOL New POF is inbound, hope it makes the grade,,,

I can't comment on the "new" GAP ar-10 as i have Armalite.

I have had mine since Thanksgiving and have only had two range trips so far. 20" bbl DD rails, i got the cheaper muzzle brake (Titan i believe). PRS stock. It came with the YHM bipod adapter and the harris bipod. This is my 2nd Gap rifle, and i could not be happier. When spring time comes around im gonna LIVE at the range untill i run outta ammo

Hydro, ask him about it anyway, he is a pretty decent guy.

Yeah, ask him.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

Buddy of mine has one and really likes it, they have a lighter weight version called the PredatAR coming out in March/April, I pre-ordered one of those.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

I have both the OBR and the GA Precision AR-10 and they are both tack drivers. The OBR allows you to use Larue, KAC, and Magpul mags has an adjustable gas block which works well for shooting mine suppressed. I like the Geissele trigger in the Larue better than the Rock River my GA gun had, It is now a Geissele as well.

My GAP doesn't have an adjustable gas block but using my SureFire can I have had zero issues with reliability with the gas block. The BCG on the Larue is nicer and the finish makes it very easy to wipe clean after shooting suppressed. The Larue also comes with a 20MOA full rail on top and PRI gas buster charging handle.

The nice thing about the GAP is the daniel defense rail on mine gives you a lot of options for sling studs and the fact that you can get it in a caliber other than .308 if you want something else.

In my opinion I like my Larue better though because of mag options, built in rail, charging handle and trigger but you couldn't go wrong with either one and I have both in my safe.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

thats the one thing I dislike about my OBR, that F---ing 20 moa rail, any standard QD mount for an AR is too high IMHO on this platform I bought the sliding riser for the CTR stock and it just seems cheesy. I ended it up with rings (low) and a small objective scope(2.5x10x32 NF) with no BUIS

Haven't had that issue with mine, it has a VTAC mount under that USO. I bought the Larue OBR mount, thought I would try the VTAC already on the scope first, never needed to swap it out. No BUIS on mine either, but most of my shooting is past where they would do any good. Have the PRS on most of my LR AR's.

And the Gieselle trigger is very nice, I think that is a big part of why these rifles shoot as well as they do.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

what Im saying is if you run a conventional AR QD mount,(1.5) you'll need to run a elevated stock like your PRS or the CTR with a riser for a proper (for me) cheek weld

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

Can anyone point me towardvelocity numbers comparing the 16", 18" and 20" OBR's?

The APA I will be selling is a 20" and I dont mind going with another in the OBR, but I am thinking I may settle in the middle with an 18".

But am also considering the 16". My range maxes out at <700 yards. So, shooting 1K is rare for me. The whole point of this exercise is to replace a precision bolt gun-

Patriot-210-4-1061.jpg

With a battle rifle that can equal the Precision bolt while still performing the duties of a semi battle rifle.

So, if the 16" can do 95% of the 18" or 20", then I would like the handiness of the carbine.

What do you guys think?

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

Shooting 175grain M118LR the muzzle velocities are appx as follows:

16" 2500fps
18" 2550fps
20" 2600fps

At 800 meters with the BP at 29.7", 70degrees, 50% humidity the mil holds are appx as follows:

16" 9.7mils
20" 8.73mils

By extrapolating the BC in subsonic flight using the ATRAG ballistic software we have successfully shot the 18" OBRs at 1600 meters at 18" x 28" steel. Of course the wind plays hell at that range but the accuracy is still there. I like the 18" with a SureFire muzzle break. The reduced recoil allows you to observe downrange effects of your round and quick follow up shots as needed.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

Well, I rolled the dice on a 16". A guy with a sub 100 round count as new 16" OBR pretty well decked out contacted me.

We made the deal. Should ship tomorrow.

Crazy for me, but I am getting out of bolt guns.

I would have bet my house last year that I would never sell my APA, it is the baddest bolt gun I have ever seen. Jered and crew are unreal and the paint is simply wicked. But, it may be going up for sale soon if anyone is looking.

Now to figure out glass.

Opinions? </div></div>

I have the Geissele DMR trigger in my AR10. I cannot imagine a better trigger for a precision rifle and it definitely spoils you in regards to ARs. The 1st/2nd stage transition is crystal clear and the 2nd stage is extremely crisp and breaks like glass. You can adjust it very easily and I've found that its range is so wide it even lets you take it down to levels that are unusable in the field. I recommend the 2nd stage at 1-1.5lb.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

As the seller of the rifle you just bought, I can tell you that the Geissele High-Speed DMR is the finest semi-auto trigger I have ever felt, and I have a lot of time in getting it adjusted "just so."

I hope you enjoy it! It is, in my opinion, a good upgrade over the standard SSA trigger.

What was your reasoning for selling your OBR if you don't mind me asking?

It requires more skill than shooting a bolt, and I full well admit that I am not good enough to keep up with a semi.

And I wanted an AIAX really bad...

What did you do with your USO 1.8x10?

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

I am a huge fan of giesselle 2 stage triggers. I run them in every gas gun I shoot.
I think they are superior to single stage triggers in combat guns. They give you a match quality trigger in the 2nd stage, and the first stage gives you a little play which is important when shooting on the move, with gloves on, or shooting out of a moving vehicle or helo.
Just my opinion anyhow.

Re: LaRue OBR 7.62.

On this topic, I am curious to hear if any of you OBR owners are loading your own ammo for it?

One of the things that has always frustrated me with precision semi's is their penchant for chewing up my Lapua brass. Some rifles are worse than others. How is the OBR is this regard?

I have a ton of new Lapua brass and before destroying it in a semi, I may just sell it all and replace it with something more economical.

I am curious to hear specific results from the OBR with various loads?

I am stocked up on Varget, Fed 210m's, SMK's in 175 and 168 (my APA loved the 168's, otherwise I would never have strayed from the 175's) and also have about a thousand 155 Scenars.

Obviously, I have the new Lapua brass, but would replace it with LC or something cheaper.

Thoughts?
