i couldnt figure out why my ar10 kept loosing zero. went to the range saturday and as i was finishing up the day, i saw that my scope had slipped backwards all the way to the center houseing! Its a preimer 3x15 on it with the new larue osr mount that the scope sits in, like normal rings, not that side mounted style like larue usually has... Do i have a bad mount? i have mounted at least a dozen scopes and have never had this happen?

I had Larue QD rings on a 308 bolt action, and the scope was moving at 15 inch pounds. Called Larue and they said to use 35 inch pounds. I also thought that was excessive, but I torqued it down to 35 and the slipage stopped.

Also, you say your scope is slipping backwards? The most common way for a scope to move with recoil in loose rings is forward.

The extra torque didn't harm my 3.5-15x50 NF NXS. How do I know? After I worried about what the 35 inch pounds was doing to the scope body, I got badger rings and remounted it. The Badger mounts to 15 inch pounds and I have had no slippage problems.

The OSR mount (LT111) and other newer scope mounts from LaRue no longer use the vertical split ring design -- so the order in which you tighten the screws is not an issue.

That having been said, I have an LT112 (OSR mount with 20MOA slope built in) on my Barrett 98B .338LM and will see what happens to my NF F1 over time. So far, so good...
