Night Vision Laser illuminator

Im thinking of tinkering up a homemade laser illuminator, using something like this, but higher quality.

I think you could make a focusable one quite easily.

Anyone ever done it?

Sounds and looks like you're looking at an infrared version of the Laser Genetics ND3. Warn Lasers also makes a green laser designator that can be focused/ collimated. I contacted them and they don't make it in an infrared version. I've thought that an infrared version of the Laser Genetics ND3 would work great with NV. There are knock-off Chinese versions of the ND3 available on eBay. Might be worth it to start with one of those and swap out the green laser diode with an infrared laser diode.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do with it and post back. Im not really sure what my goal is here, because Ive got LED illuminators that will light up further than the distances I have available to shoot....but I want to try my hand at it anyway.

Ive been tinkering with it some lately and I think Ill end up with long reaching beast for $50ish. If it is successful I'll post a how-to up for the other DIY guys out there.
