ABOUT THE SHOW
Renegade crew of a nuclear submarine go on the run after defying an order given under strange and suspicious circumstances to deploy their weapons. They seek refuge at a NATO listening post and declare themselves the world’s smallest sovereign nation with nuclear capability. They then face the challenges of creating a new society while monitoring the movements of the world’s militaries.

and I do find all the "SHTF"... "rebelion" type shows and movies lately interesting

Alien apocalypse, entire power grid wiped out, rogue nuclear submarine... You're right. Looks like everyone is getting on board with that whole "This shit ain't gonna last much longer" feeling.

Personally I can't stand most of the doomsday series that are out now, mostly because they're either cheesy, grossly exaggerated, get way too farfetched, derail into a sappy love story or in the case of the prepper shows...well they are some of the stupidest people America has to offer...and that's coming from the guy that just said stupidest! Who buries a shipping contai...i mean totally badass tactical doomsday bunker in their yard to avoid detection then installs a parascope! Sadly, you take out the zombies and replace em with a power-hungry militia and The Walking Dead is the best portrayal of what most probably think life after an apocalypse would be like; everyday a struggle, mutiny within the group, no "feel good" stories every episode to tickle the hearts of the masses.

Anyways, back on topic. I will be tuning into this show. Not for any particular reason other than curiosity and the absence of originality from all the passe doomsday shows out there, I mean, this is a theoretical event with no determined path or outcome...it's as blank a slate as a writer could ask for yet they all come out the same!

If it sounds like I'm not excited, I actually am. Just have to keep reasonable expectations because very few of these shows have impressed me. Prove me wrong ABC!

iTunes has the first episode of Last Resort available for free; I just finished watching it and was quite entertained.

It moves *very* quickly, barely touching on a whole list of plot points that certainly will make up various arcs throughout the season. Plus, Andre Braugher is a great actor and does a very good job IMO.

If you like Tom Clancy-style writing, you'll probably like the show.

Sounds promising. I'll be watching football but the DVR is set.

Just finished the first episode...ehh. I'll stick around and give it another go. Seems like it will be good, but I'll have to see.

That was pretty damn good. Kept you on the edge pretty much the whole time and instead of the classic empty threats and "I'm gonna do it!" lines that make up most suspense series... they just blew all that away.

In all fairness, your old man probably knows more than most of the people who tuned in. That said, it's not difficult to check your facts and it always irks me when it's overlooked.

Having spent several years as an ICBM missileer I appreciate any attempt to educate the "public" about the awesome power of nuclear weapons. A US Navy boomer or Air Force Minuteman is one of the ultimate weapons. One shot one kill is great but one shot 100,000 kills is a step up in affect and deterence. Agree the show apparently lacks sensible military advising but hey its Hollywood...

I'm loving this show just because there's a completelack of apology for the DC crowd. Everyone with any power on this show is a complete sociopath,and it lends it a ot of credibility.

I read it was being cancelled too. Which is too bad, I like it.
