Gunsmithing Lathe advice wanted

Hi guys,
Im looking at getting a lathe for my home workshop and need a single phase machine(240V in Aust.)
Im looking at the Hafco AL-340D which should be large enough for barrel work and other small jobs, and was just wondering if anyone has used this model? Im open to other suggestions around the same dollar mark, keeping in mind that Im in Australia and may not have access to the same machines available in the USA.

What is your budget? The South Bend I have my sights on it a bit over 20,000 with ll the accessories. A comparable Grizzly is only $8000.

I was thinking about $5-6K which will probably put me into second hand machine range. Im not that fussed really, I should be able to get a good second hand machine for that sort of money that will do the job, I was just wondering on peoples experience and recommendations.

I bought a used South Bend Heavy 10 and love it. If you look, you can find them in really good shape and single phase.

You should be able to find a used South Bend in Australia.

How about a larger Hercus? They are made in Australia.
