Purpose of this thread is to share pics of barricades you have found challenging or enjoyed, heck even ones you hated (we’re all different after all).

I’ll start with the boat!
Whether shooting a stationary target, hostage know your limits, or snake charmer, the swinging, bouncing, bobbing movement emulates a floating platform well.

Don't have a pic, but one MARS match the MD strung up a cargo net from the overhead cover

Had lots of problems with that one

Have a link? I did a search but guess I missed it.
Can't remember the title now 😆

Carry on

There should be a surprise stage where you have to shoot from a sex swing lol

This young lady had little challenge with the change in perspective…

Notice the tiny metal shark targets!

Why all the hate for Urban Prone?
One of the simplest yet difficult stages, as few contemplate what it takes to connect.

So what's that course of fire?
Shooter starts with all gear in hand, mag in, bolt back, rifle at port arms. At the beep, shooter proceeds through the screen door and takes up position [prone?] with rifle supported by log and engages targets 1, 2, 3, etc.?

And I'm also curious about this range? It looks like this is the only lane you use at this particular range? Meaning, all shooters shoot stage 1, then move / set up props for stage 2, everyone shoots, then set up prop(s) stage 3, rinse / repeat?

(and I'm not being a smart ass, I'm genuinely curious)

Similar to what you described, that particular stage had 2 life sized steel squirrels, one distantly in front of the other, so from the perspective of the shooter, you were always aiming at the first, but had to use your dope to switch back and forth for correct hits. The log had 3 separate points you must shoot from.

The range typically holds several courses of fire, all color coded, to maximize the use while running a tight day of shooting, the barricades are what get changed throughout the day.
We run 25-400 yards and typically 7 or more stages.

Gotcha. Interesting format, versus a range where 10 squads start on 10 different stages at the same time and rotate through.
If you're shooting and have a good time, then I like it.
We have a couple MD's that have an Evil Idea Fairy visit them once in a while so I have a love / hate (read: hate/hate) relationship with the gimmick stages.

We try (I say we, but I’m a very small part of it) to make the most out of what we have access to.
I personally believe in “Embracing the Gimmick”, I’d bet the lion’s share of folks who have shot with us are the better for it, if nothing else than a reinforcement of base motor skills to shoot better.
This “ball on a stick” tested my aiming concentration as much as reading the wind.

Sometimes the barricade might be simple, but the array of targets are challenging.

Building a barricade to suit you, then deploying equipment and engagement of the correct targets, all on the clock!

Bungee cords completely changed the dynamic of the floating platform:

having to use the lama as support would be an "interesting" stage tho!!

The first tree line is about 900 yards. There’s been a couple of times where I’m shooting and he will stroll out from behind the tree line and walk up the road to you and lay down behind the firing line to hang out while you shoot. Now we drive to the tree line to make sure he’s not back there. Good llama

Hanging roof was a bit challenging, never got quite comfortable.

Something so simple (cut sailing mast), yet every shooter (myself included) iirc attempted to use a bag because it was allowed, rather than just bracing with our hands!

Small tank traps are just as challenging as the full size ones!

Do you have to use the supplied stuff, or could you just use a tripod and be done? The only real challenge with this is that once one guy figures it out, the whole rest of the squad is pretty much going to do the exact same thing, unless the MD can find a creative way to make it a blind stage for everyone. I do like the intent of these stages, though. I've shot a few and they're fun.

I’m finding slanted barricades (particularly high left side if I’m shooting right handed), incredibly challenging, I never quite get comfortable. These guys make it look easy!

Here’s a couple of composite pics of different stages over the last couple of years.
