New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Found this buck on sunday...broken main beam on his right antler. He stood there for about two minutes at 125 meters...pic taken through a Zeiss spotter. He'll be worth a look next year.
Last year, nearly every buck I found had broken antlers. Just a coincidence, or could there be some reason? Could this be due to weather, lack of water, or something else?
Still rutting hard up here even though we've had a very mild fall. It will start to taper off pretty quick in the next few days.
I think a guy will see a lot of broken points on dry years. There hasnt been too many broken points up here this year. I suspect this guy got that antler wedged into a tree somehow and broke it off....probably not from fighting. It's not real common to see mule deer bucks going at it like whitetails do. I've seen some crazy brutal fights between whitetail bucks.
Back where I'm from in TN if you saw a white tail with one beam gone it usually meant that pocher joe had a few to many toddies that night and couldn't see straight to hit him between the eyes.
