Re: Lets see those 1911's!!!!
1911's are teh yummy.
New Series 70 Colt built by Yost-Bonitz (1* Elite package). This one just plain runs.
60's vintage Colt 38 Super built by CT Brian. This is probably the closest I will ever get to a full boat custom. After some shakedown rounds put through it, I took it to a Pat Rogers carbine class as my transition weapon. It has accurails and every time I went to press check it, I would eject a round because the railed action was so slick. It was pretty funny. Also, Tim milled the curve of the slide a bit to get rid of pitting, so it was a little loose in holster. During the MEUSOC/Navy drills, it came flying out of the holster and surfing across three days of carbine class brass...needless to say, it is not a safe queen, but I would have liked to have kept it pristine for at least 6 months, not 2 weeks.
Current primary carry piece - Kimber Royal Carry. Box stock besides grips. Runs great. Going to get an overhaul soon now that my Colt Commander is ready to carry.
60's Vintage Colt Lightweight Commander. The patina on this one is great and I didn't want a full custom job to retain it coolness. I did have some tall Yost retro sights put on as well as an ambi safety (lefty), trigger job, fresh springs and any internal parts replaced that needed it. This pic is pre-mods...I will see the upgrades when I am home on my next leave. This one will get full time carry status while the Kimber gets some custom work done.
Also have a stainless new Series 70 that will get turned into a suppressor host.
I am on the hunt for a vintage 38 Super Lightweight Commander.
