I am in the midst of building 1 of 2 light weight ARs. One in .223 and one in .308. I am trying to finish building these two rifles so I can walk around easier with my firearms. If you look at my photo, I am missing a limb so weight matters to me. Any of you who have one sitting around and could you tell me what yours weighs? I really really like my 3-18 MK 6 on my .308 and I am thinking about doing the 1-6 MK 6 on the .223, if you know of a lighter mount, I am all ears. Thanks gents.

I don't have the exact weights but I'll chime in and say the the 3-18 is handy as fuck. It's an amazingly compact package for an 18 power scope. That comes at a slight cost in brightness due to the smaller objective lens but depending on application it may be insignificant.

Another very handy scope is the bushnell hdmr. Still nice and short with a bigger objective lens. Glass is very clear, very high quality. I like the turrets on the mk6 more though.

Posted thinking this was my NF unimount and then realized it's my badger 34mm unimount.

I'll see if I can snag the actual weight of my NF unimount tonight or tomorrow. In the mean time, if you like e idea of a lower cheek weld of 1.3" to optical center line, here is a badger unimount, 34mm at 6.3oz.

Thanks Minnesota, and thanks Brasscow. Jeff I have not gotten time to shoot my 3-18 yet, because I deployed. But for its size it is light, and allows me to reach with the .308. Once I have both projects completely finished I am going to post a thread. But The rifles look like this:

.308 (rifle without scope/mount and Gemtech Sandstorm suppressor is coming in a 7.25 lbs right now)
MEGA MATEN set
PROOF 18in barrel w/Gemtech Titanium Sandstorm
JP low mass bolt
JP trigger
Lancer Systems 15 in Carbon Handguard
ACE ultra lite stock (the one that is nothing but a a little piece of rubber hanging off the buffer tube)
syrac adjustable

.223 (This rifle is not built but without optics and Gemtech Trek-T suppressor will be somewhere between low 4 to mid 4 lb mark)
MAG Tactical upper/lower
PROOF 14.5 barrel
JP Trigger
Mission first 6 ounce stock
SLR adjustable gas
V7 weaponry lightweight components (which by the way, if you do not know about Joel and V7, you are behind :)
V7 lightweight 6 pos adjustable buffer tube
BOOMFAB titanium bolt
I do not have a hand guard yet, but it will be a BCM KMR of something lighter if V7 comes out with some new surprises.

It has been fun doing these two builds.

I'd take that badger over the Leupold. That 1.3" CL would be very helpful with a 1-6x optic. The NF ultralite weighs 5.4oz if memory serves correctly. It does however have a higher 1.44" CL. The NF does have an option with 20 MOA of built in cant though.

Heeelllll yes it would brotha. Say the extra material needed to make a 34mm version adds an ounce and you have a 34mm cantilever mount at 4.3oz for around $100. What's not to like? Thats lighter than a lot of ring sets out there. That'd be damn near perfect for an AR set up! I'll lob in another email this morning as well.

I also reached out to V7 Weapons Systems, those guys are making all kinds of cool new light weight AR stuff. Some light weight mounts would complement what they have going on, really well. The owner Joel is an extremely knowledgeable guy (former Noveske guy), and full of innovation. So I am trying the ideas I have on him as well.
