Im looking to get this optic for an AR-15 DMR build and was wondering what size ARMS #22 Rings should I get? High?

Also does anyone know a cheaper price and website than 949.00?
Thats the cheapest I googled so far. Any better/cheaper places?

Thanks

Anybody care to share their pics of theirs mounted on an AR-15?

Hers a pic I found on Wikepedia w/ The US Marine Corps Squad DMR w/ the ARMS #22 rings but is that a 36 Obj?
That looks like the Mark 4 3.5-10x40 w/ M3 Turrets. Its only a 4mm difference tho but I want the lowest I can to the upper.

Re: Leupold MK4 MRT M1 2.5-8x36 Questions

I just found a site that has it for 852.00. CHEAP!

I dont think I could find it cheaper.

Dynamic Armament has 1 for 899.00 also but sold out.
Natchez has it for 949.00.

Anyone find cheaper???

That is a 36mm, I have one in 3-9x36 It is clear but the FOV is pretty limited. It is more like looking down a tube than any of my other scopes.

I bought mine off samplelist.com. It was a trade in. They currently have a 3-9 M1 for $699

On a AR you might not want the lowest you can go. With these scopes, they are so small you can get them too low. I actually like high rings on my ARs.

Re: Leupold MK4 MRT M1 2.5-8x36 Questions

The rifle in the pic you posted is actually a SAM-R and the optic shown, from the best I can tell from the pic is the TS-30 A2 (a.k.a. - Leupold Mk4 M1 MR/T 3-9x36) mounted in ARMS 22H (high) rings. While the SAM-R was traditionally issued with the high rings, the Mk12 rifles were issued with ARMS #22M rings which would accommodate up to a 40mm obj scope. They were also used prolifically with scopes in the exact size range as the Leupold 2.5-8x36 you are looking at, as well as the TS-30 A2, pictured in the photo you posted, and NF 2.5-10x24 scopes.

The only reason to go with the high rings over the mediums for your scope selection is the need to mount BUIS on your rifle that the lower scope mount won't clear. Mounting that scope in high rings will allow you to mount most common, folding BUIS under the scope with no problems. However, this comes at a price though...you are increasing the height of the centerline of the scope by more than 0.25" which means you may not get as good a cheekweld with the higher rings and your accuracy with the rifle may suffer as a result.

It all depends on your preferences and the setup you are running as to what height rings will best serve your needs.

Re: Leupold MK4 MRT M1 2.5-8x36 Questions

Skip the ARMS rings and get some standard medium rings. High rings are used to line up with the UNS.

As for the Leupold, if your patient, you can get these for under 700 bones. Hell I bought a TS-30 for 550 bones last year. They are good scopes but do not have parallax adjustments.

Are you MIL/Law Enforcement?

Re: Leupold MK4 MRT M1 2.5-8x36 Questions

So the ARMS #22 (medium) rings will clear the upper with room to spare with the 36 Obj?? Correct?

Im not planning to put any BUIS on it so I have no need for the high rings if the mediums will work.

I have the Larue SPR mount on (2) other setups. I just want to try something different. Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the Larue mount. I just want something different.
