So I have been debating this query for quite some time now and finally had a chance to look through both of them.
The Leupy has good solid knobs with a very positive feel. They also have a great reputation and a history of mil/le contracts that adds to my peace of mind when it comes to durability and their ultimate willingness of taking care of me if/when something goes wrong with it. The TMR reticle is tried and true mil-dots, nothing fancy and nothing to get confused about..
The Bushnell HDMR with the G2DMR reticle is pretty slick. The turrets are about as beefy as they could be and I'm hoping that translates into beefy and near indestructible internal mechanisms. The knobs dont feel as positive as the Leupy when cranking in elevation or windage, but they still feel good, and the locking turrets is a bit of a bonus for me. (I like shooting with holds more than adjustments).. The glass also looked WAY FREAKING BETTER through the Bushy than the Leupy.. Could just be the samples that I got, but damn the Bushy looked AWESOME.. I also like the reticle more with the Bushy... The G2DMR for me looks like they took all the good stuff from the Horus reticles but none of the bad. It looks way less busy but still totally usable.
I am looking to put one of these on my .308 Rem700 SPS Tac that currently sits in an HS R5 stock, and is currently topped with a Falcon Menace 4-14x44.. So either one of these will be a very good upgrade. Most of the shooting I do is at the private range I belong to and I stretch her legs out to 1025yds from time to time and I have been shooting more club "Tactical Matches" with unk distance shots, movers, timed exposures, improvised position shooting, etc.
Oh, and just an FYI.. I can get a "deal" on both of them.. The Leupy for around $1200 and the Bushy for $900..
WWYD???
Thanks!
