Lost in Idaho...
So I have been debating this query for quite some time now and finally had a chance to look through both of them.

The Leupy has good solid knobs with a very positive feel. They also have a great reputation and a history of mil/le contracts that adds to my peace of mind when it comes to durability and their ultimate willingness of taking care of me if/when something goes wrong with it. The TMR reticle is tried and true mil-dots, nothing fancy and nothing to get confused about..

The Bushnell HDMR with the G2DMR reticle is pretty slick. The turrets are about as beefy as they could be and I'm hoping that translates into beefy and near indestructible internal mechanisms. The knobs dont feel as positive as the Leupy when cranking in elevation or windage, but they still feel good, and the locking turrets is a bit of a bonus for me. (I like shooting with holds more than adjustments).. The glass also looked WAY FREAKING BETTER through the Bushy than the Leupy.. Could just be the samples that I got, but damn the Bushy looked AWESOME.. I also like the reticle more with the Bushy... The G2DMR for me looks like they took all the good stuff from the Horus reticles but none of the bad. It looks way less busy but still totally usable.

I am looking to put one of these on my .308 Rem700 SPS Tac that currently sits in an HS R5 stock, and is currently topped with a Falcon Menace 4-14x44.. So either one of these will be a very good upgrade. Most of the shooting I do is at the private range I belong to and I stretch her legs out to 1025yds from time to time and I have been shooting more club "Tactical Matches" with unk distance shots, movers, timed exposures, improvised position shooting, etc.

Oh, and just an FYI.. I can get a "deal" on both of them.. The Leupy for around $1200 and the Bushy for $900..

WWYD???

Thanks!

First of all, I don't know anything about the Bushnell, but will reply because I have ended up with a couple of Mark 4's over the past 4-5 months.
One, came in a trade and it is a 8.5-25, while the other was on a rifle I bought and is a 4.5-14.

I have several different brands of scopes and I'm not married to any of them. If they work as they should and I like them, I'll tell you, but if not, I won't own them very long.

I had thought I would not own another Leupy, due to their poor CS (for me) on an older scope. I sent it in twice and they sent it back twice just like I sent it to them. Got rid of that one and years later ended up with the 2 Mark 4s.

I'm pretty impressed with the Mark 4s. Both do what they should, time and time again. I took a shooting class in AL this spring, hauling one of the Mark 4s a couple of thousand miles on a motorcycle and doing nothing but taking it off the bike and shooting. They seem solid.

In reading your post, it seems you are leaning towards the Bushnell. Given the two scopes to choose from if you have looked at both and will be happy with the Bushnell and at the same time save 300, well,,,,, it would seem like the way to go.

Good luck with your pick.

the G2DMR reticle gives you more than the Leupold TMR.</div></div>

Neither of those statements are quantifiied.

I don't see how a few 1/2mil windage hash marks on the G2DMR provides any simularity to Horus.
1.5mil windage @ 7-8mil elevation.
2 mil windage @ 9-10ml elevation.
+ no difference on .5mil vs 1mil windage markings.

G2DMR or TMR, either way your usually holding in "dead-space" and I'm am not stating anything negative about that aspect. I keep reading of the great benefit of being Horus-like w/o being "busy". It's "not busy" because there is no practical windage grid for holds. The reticle either has it or it does'nt. Simple.

i have the mk4 6.5-20 m5 on both of my rigs and am happy. more capable than the vx-IIIlr it replaced
no comment on the bushnell, havent had that one

Re: Leupy Mk4 ER/T vs. Bushnell Elite HDMR G2DMR

Here is a observation;
On the H27, there is 2mil of windage (marked) starting at ONE mil of elevation.

On the G2DMR, the first 2mil windage hash is at NINE mils of elevation.
Remember that those equally weighted windage hash marks are all 0.5mil.

It's gluten free?
So is a pure and traditional mil-line reticle.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">granted, but being similar is not solely quantified on being identical....to any normal person, those are EXTREMELY similar...hence his statement stands and is 100% true.
</div></div>

Normal, concise, reinforced by example, AND EXTREME.
Wait, I am not normal? I'm not a big Horus fan but I'm not going to make big statements in utility regarding a few windage marks at the skirt.

Run what you want, the statements were made public within a question.

Re: Leupy Mk4 ER/T vs. Bushnell Elite HDMR G2DMR

While I haven't gotten hands on with one of the newer Leupolds, I didn't care for the feel of the one Mk4 I did try - the knobs felt a little mushy to me. I did just sell a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24 and I liked the feel of the feedback from the knobs quite a bit. Like I said, though...both of the ones I had hands-on with were a couple of years ago.

A buddy pointed me at the G2DMR...I know that's the one I'd choose.

By the way...if you decide NOT to get the G2DMR, send me a PM and I'll buy it!

Re: Leupy Mk4 ER/T vs. Bushnell Elite HDMR G2DMR

I went with the Bushy DMR with the G2DMR reticle. It was just too good of a deal to pass on, and the glass seems way nicer on the Bushy. I think I am going to be happy with my decision. If not, Ill sell it off and buy a Leupold... Or maybe a USO...

I should have it here on Monday. I know there are some reviews on it already, but I will likely write my own as well, maybe with some video, a "box test" and a few other tests I can throw at it.

I have a set of Seekins rings already and I can't wait to fill them with this new tube!
