I've had my eye on the Barret Fieldcraft and Kimber Adirondack for a while now, but I have way to many other projects going on to justify $1600-$1800 for a hunting rifle right now. I came across the Remington Model 7 Kuiu edition. 16.5" threaded barrel chambered in .308 with a weight 6lb. It checks of most of the boxes for me at a much more reasonable $625. Any other 5-6lb rifles out there with threaded barrels in the sub $800 range that are worth considering before I hit the "buy it now" on the model 7?

I had a SPS Tactical circa 2013 and have Gen2 5R built in 2017. No issues at all with either. Not alot of info out there on the model 7, but a 6lb .308 for ~$600 seems like it'd make for a great all around hunting rifle.

If money wasn't an issue I'd pick up a Barret Fieldcraft and top it off with a swarovski, but the model 7 with a vortex razor hd lw 2-10 in some Talley lightweights should come in at, or slightly under 7lb for less than $1300. Not bad.

I was looking at barrett and kimber last year and ended up tikka ctr. Liked the kimber over barrett but didn’t see paying the extra $ for lighter gun

To the OP. If you move forward, please shop around first... We don't have short memories around here.

Yep. I was going to post that anyway. I won't patronize CTD after their exploitation of the 2012 ammo/supplies shortage. There's capitalism and then there's greed; they chose greed IMO. Some saying about the difference between making a living and making a killing seems appropriate here...

They made a killing, alright... they killed at least two of their brick-and-mortar stores (McKinney, TX and Austin, TX) as a result of their actions.
