That’s beautiful! How do you like the tactical brass recovery brass catcher on this? Is this the standard ar15/10 model? And which mlok-picatinny adapter did you go with? Would love to set mine up similarly if it works well.
I put in on a 5 slot mlok pic rail adapter for magpul. I have had a it a while and love not having to locate brass. I got to be honest i dont remember which model it is, but i see they have added a hinge to it now. I wish i had that on mine. I feel pretty sure this si for the ar10 model.

Have any of you guys try some Federal Power Shock 180gr? If so how was the grouping? I currently shoot Hornady American Whitetail 150 gr out of my 16" and it shoots really well but looking to go with a heavier load with good accuracy. It's my hunting rig.

mid-length is just barely long enough to work. have not had a chance to run it yet. but for me i wanted something that would work on different setup's.

Has anyone here gotten the MRGG-S 20" 6.5 barrel? Looks to be about 11 oz lighter than the standard 20" 6.5 barrel, and the gas port is timed with the land and grooves, and a 1 in 7.5 twist rate. Are these worth the extra $200 over a standard barrel? Info is pretty limited (just a few reddit threads).

I bought ~600 rounds a few years back at like $8/box. Somewhat surprisingly it it groups about moa in everything I’ve tried it in, including my 13.5 lw chrome barrel. Runs about 2350 from the 13.5 and 2500-2550 from 18-20”

How has everyone’s experience with been with their MWS purchases? Have there been issues that needed to be fixed by the manufacturer and if so, how easily was it resolved?

I snagged this upper when they were on sale for 500$. I run a 16” 308, 13.7 308& 20” creed barrel. I love this rig
Yeah I have the lm8 upper as well.
    It’s a heck of a buy for 500 bucks.
And frankly I don’t really care about the mlok craze. Prefer quad rail. But I’ll buy lm8 for that price all day long!!

That’s the LM8? Just the upper? If so I’m going to keep an eye out. I didn’t see the LM8 listed.
They were closing out the lm8 I believe. I found mine used with the barrel elsewhere.
Some folks said “pay extra for the mlok for resale value”.. well screw that lll. It’s a tool not an investment and I believe you can take the barrel out with lm8 without removing the lm8 panels.
As far as I am concerned lm8 or quad rail. There some lm8 on sale now and again used as people “upgrade” to mlok

I’ll keep an eye out. I have 3 brakes for my FA762SS and feel like a 16” mws would be a suitable host for one.

Is the defender any less accurate than the mars stuff?

Nope. The defender lowers are just as good. Only difference is that the MARS are fully ambi. It’s a nice to have but my no means a needed. My 556 is a defender lower

So looking at the barrels ideally, I'd like to grab a defender 16" then sell the barrel and grab a 16 LW SS, just to save a pound. Buddy of mine that has one says they're pigs but if i can keep it around the same weight as my XM3 I'm okay with that.

So I’m selling a few LMT 308’s. What’s the difference between a MWS and Mars gun? I want to list it correctly.

Be careful, you’re straddling the forum rules on advertising outside the proper forum

MWS - Modular Weapons System, specifically refers to a 7.62x51 variant of the LMT rifle
MARS - Modular Ambidextrous Rifle, refers to right side ambi bolt catch/bolt release controls on both 5.56 and 7.62 variants.
If you have a MARS 7.62 rifle you could call it an MWS MARS rifle if you wanted to..

Also is there no 15” MRP uppers? Though 16” barrel with the 12.5” will be fine I’m thinking if i wanted to put a 18” 6.5cm on there I’d like a little more rail to close the gap. Strictly speaking on aesthetics of course.

    Timely question.
See my pic a couple reply’s up. Bottom rifle is the 12.5” upper with 16” barrel. Top rifle is the, hot off the presses, 15.3” SOCOM upper they just released. It’s designed to just fit a 16” with can and plus 2” gas system 6.5 barrels.
There are a few 15.5” upper floating around from the beginning of the SOCOM project. Believe they were sold by Primary Arms. Problem there was they wouldn’t fit a 16” barrel with suppressor.

Given the way the mb762ss mounts there is no way i could use my FA762SS on the 15 with a 16” barrel. 18” 308 would be perfect though

They were overrun from a contract I believe. I almost picked one up when I had the MWS. Here are the two pictures I was able to find of them in the wild.

Think the only plausible scenario in which the 15.3 would work for me is if I ran 18" barrels across the board. Seeing as I want to use the FA762SS I'll need some barrel for the muzzle brake. Kind of like this OBR.

But I wonder if the 2" would be worth the extra LB considering I can't get the 18" in a LW SS.

As far as gassing for you owners, I've read they can be very gassy. Is it necessary to have a can with low back pressure? Or are there other viable ways to mitigate this issue?

They are only “gassy” if you are using a high back pressure can.
I have a SF SOCOM RC mounted on a 16” stainless barrel.
Stone stock other than the SF 3 prong mount.
It is 100% reliable and pleasant to shoot. No gas in my face from the ejection port and I shoot left hand.

Wondering if the ole FA762SS has high back pressure

I thought my factory LMT LM8 16” SS complete rifle I purchased was incredibly overgassed with a flash hider.

It must have been a high back pressure flash hider.

I purchased/installed a Black River Tactical 50:50 gas tube and it was much better.

Now I have the Superlative Arms adjustable gas block on a 6.5 CM Proof Carbon and it is a total pussy cat suppressed.

I have two 5.56 MRPs and they are overgassed also. Black River Tactical 50:50 gas tubes on three barrels for those and all is well.
