I have not yet crushed a case, but can understand how it might happen.

I don't want to flair the mouth of the case if I don't have to because the cases will not all be the same perfect length when having to "un" flair them in the die (I don't run crimp on any of my loads).

I DO chamfer the inside of the neck, and this helps, but it seems like a very slow tedious process loading flat based bullets over all.

Any tips or tricks to make sure not to crush a case when loading these buggers? They have a hard time sitting on the case mouth easily.

Boat tail is a LOT easier I've found.

What bullet diameter & what is the sized neck opening size? All I shoot to 300yds is flat-base because they run circles group wise over a boat-tail. If you are trying to load a 30 cal make sure you are loading a .308 bullet instead of a .311 Many surplus .311's are being sold and re-boxed as .308's. Also verify you are using the correct loading tools as I have seen a few in my time that were wore out and a few marked wrong.

They do have a hard time sitting on the case mouth, but I've never found any that were tedious. Place the bullet on the case mouth and hold it in place with your fingers. Raise the ram of the press and let your fingers guide the bullet into the die. Release and finish the stroke.
I do this will all bullets boat tail and flat base. I don't do it with handgun loads because I flare the mouth.

Get a RCBS competition seater. A sleeve holds the case and a cutout in the side of the die provides an opening to the top of the sleeve where you drop the bullet. Perfect effortless. No balancing thing or dropped bullets.

So far, just trying to load up some .224 caliber rounds for the ARs. I'm sure everything is good size wise, just they don't sit down in the case like the boat tails do.

.

This is the way I do it, but it seems there's a lot more likelihood of error compared to BT bullets.
