I have a 6x24x50 scope so i have the optics to reach out there, i just dont have the ballistics infromation. any help would be great.

Re: Long Range Mosin Nagant

Just like any other rifle, it's going to depend on the load you use. There's about a million different possibilities. What I use in my rifles could be very different than what you come up with for yours. I would suggest that you start to learn about ballistics, in general and check out some of the ballistic calculators to help you along the way. I like JBM (free online calculator). Once you have the specifics of the load you're shooting, start filling in the blanks and it will tell you where you should be. JBM has always got me very close, if not dead on, with any rifle/load I've used it for.

Re: Long Range Mosin Nagant

Well, based on your individual arm strength and the ballistic coefficient of a brick. Might make it 10 yds. Oh, you meant the 54r...

Slug your bore. 308 diameter probably won't do well, need 311 or bigger. The cartridge is somewhere between a 308 and gods own 30-06 ballistically.

Re: Long Range Mosin Nagant

When you refer to ballistics info, are you asking for handload info.?

Or are you looking for data for the milsurp ball ammo?

You can find the data necessary to plug into external ballistics programs here (along with some commercial ammo), but don't expect too much accuracy from the milsurp ammo...

Far as handloads, the .311, 174 grain SMK has been a winner for me, I shoot mine at 600 yards over 43.5 of Varget. YMMV...
