longer bolt knob smashing my finger on recoil ?

Well i own a few different long range rifles all have a longer bolt knob installed or custom action had longer one already. But one is giving me issues
The rifle is a long action 700 which had knob installed by my first gunsmith before i switched to GAP. The rifle Smashes the my trigger finger knuckle and rips the skin open after a few shots.

Anyone ever have this happen? When installing the bolt knob can it be installed with a angle to far back?

Probably installed out to long.

This can be an issue with the type of stock you have, how you hold the rifle, or a number of other issues. May not have anything to do with the install.
