Looking for a red dot

I recently got a Steyr AUG and I'm looking at putting a red dot of some sort on it. I guess I was leaning toward a Aimpoint T-1 but I was just curious as to what everyone else thinks. What are some advantages/disadvantages of the different red dot sights out there?

Well, I can't tell you anything as far as pros and cons of different ones. However I recently picked up a Comp M4 to try and am very pleased with it. Really fast target acquisition close up and I was hitting 12"x18" steal out to 400 pretty easy with it also. I had a 1x4 on it before, which has its place but I definitely like this setup better,

You cannot go wrong with either a t1 or m4 but I would try to get the smallest m1a dot I could. The smaller dots work really well for me. I used to have eotech sights but kept having to send back for warranty issues.

Aimpoint T1 is the only red dot as far as I'm concerned. I'd look at the small dot one, but I still shoot better groups with my big dot T1 than my EOTech. Aimpoints are about 10x more reliable as a whole....I've seen an awful lot of broken eotechs and I've never seen a broken aimpoint.

I have the H-1 on my Kac Ar-15 and really like it. If your looking for CQB type distances it's the way to go. If your looking to be more precise at longer ranges like say 300-400 yards you may want a 1-6 with a red dot in it for up close work. SWFA 1-6 comes to mind and I may switch over to it. My old eyes could use the magnification.

I would recommend the H-1 as it has a finer adjustment for the dot intensity. If you would be using NV, go with the T-1. For defense, particularly HD, I would recommend using the 4 moa version. For practice, the 2 moa works well when shooting at a distance. You can turn the H-1 intensity up for a fairly large dot.

On my 2 moa H-1 I find that I am usually at #7 on the dial, but the fine dot works great at 100+ yards.

I have the Aimpoint Comp M3. It is a 2 MOA dot and I am very happy with it so far. It is my first Aimpoint, but it will not be the last. Just picked up a Colt 6920 and I am trying to decide what to put on it.

Ive had eotechs before and i now own aimpoint. I like the aimpont much more. Im now rocking an aimpoint pro on my rra elite operator2. Best group so far at 100yards has been 1.13"

Im a big fan of my vortex 1-4 pst, more than my aimpoint. They all have their purposes.

I definitely don't want anything with magnification. I have enough other ARs set up with scopes. I guess the other one I had been thinking about was the comp m4. Is there any advantage with that over the T-1?

I like that the M4 takes a standard AA battery. I try to stay away from button cell powered red dots, just my preference.
