Hi all. I am looking for help, volunteers, etc., who can write about the weapons of the war on terror, like the M4A1 Block 1 and Block 2.

A few friends and I formed a group called SOCOM Weapons Organization, a non-profit club dedicated to education and out of respect for the men and women who served in Afghanistan, Iraq and other places fighting enemies seen and unseen around the World to maintain our freedom and that of our allies.

I have a shell of a Website setup, http://socomweapons.org and am looking for someone to write a page about the Block 1, add some pics, then specs, and how to build a clone, etc. Then the same for the Block 2, then the Mk18, the Mk11, Mk12, Mk13, M110, SAM-R, SDM-R, 416, 417, M1A SOCOM, and so forth.

I have all the infrastructure taken care of. I might need help in the actual Website technical end on WordPress, but mostly content. Also, this should be thought of as not an encyclopedia of all the content, but will have links back to this forum, for example, and other sources where the primary information is contained. I envision socomweapons.org to be a starting place, with a modest amount of primary information (by lines encouraged, but not required), but with more links to all the available information contained elsewhere.

Also, this will not be a forum for discussions. We will refer back to ARFcom and other sites for discussion. This is a curated reference site.

Please email me if you have the time, the passion and the knowledge to help.

You probably won't get much past some older generations. Everything is pretty tight lipped and while rumors and pictures sneak out from time to time, very little if any is verified.

SOCOM isn't going to tell you shit. Crane is limited in their knowledge to a small piece of the pie and they would not know the true setups anyway. They are just parts assemblers, but today alot of that can be done at the unit level. However , Navy likes to run their suck hole about everything so if anyone would be responsible for spillage its those clowns.

Hmm. Well, my point is that I am helping to sponsor a Website with the history of the weapons on the war on terror. Does not have to be the latest and greatest top secret information, but historically correct information on rifles from the recent past. Crane guys know what they know. Good source on Mk12, Mk18 and Mk13 rilfes, for sure. Some ammo information.

Primus, maybe you have a rifle of your choosing that you can write-up a page? Mabye an M4A1 Block 1 or Block 2?

Primus, that is a good idea, but you might be missing my ask. I need help -- people help to write pages, edit pages, or even a page. I have setup the framework of the Website, and I will maintain it, and get graphics, but I am one guy. I had a dozen volunteer do something, and nothing has happened.

Great that you have directed me to Larry. I know what Larry has in his book, and I agree, but that does not get content on a page. We can also reference or direct to other Websites, we don't need to reinvent Wikipedia. We can write the basics, and then put a link to an authoritative Web page. But I cannot photo copy Larry's book. I will ask Larry to write a few pages as well. I know he will. I have a couple of ex-Crane guys who are going to write, but need to write anonymously. Same with some KAC guys.

If someone can administer WordPress better than me (not hard to beat me), that would be good too.

If you look at the Shell, it is actually a nice start. Where can you help? Do you have a favorite weapon that you would like to write about ? This does not need to be the final version, and you don't have to put your name to it, if you don't want to. Also, like a Wiki, it can be supplemented later. It will not be a blog or a forum. There will be no discussions, just posts, spec's and pics.
