Thoughts?

I cycled the action with a spend shell in the chamber a number of times to see the contact. One side is contacting completely, the other lug,,, not so much.
Also, the contacting lug started to feel gritty, like it was galling.

Lap time?
Call Bergara?
Let it ride?

First pic is the side that's not contacting, the other 2 are the contact lug.

Update:
Took the HMR back to my dealer, and he immediately refunded my $, took the gun out of my name. I can only guess it was bad heat treating. I'm not abandoning Bergara, and picking up another as a replacement.

I also Emailed Bergara, got a super quick response. They asked me to send the rifle in

Ok, I'm having a gnawing feeling, and have lost confidence in wanting a Bergara. Problem is, no one else checks the boxes the HMR in 300wm did.

The more I think about it, the less I'm blaming Bergara.
I've never read about this before. I'm convinced that a hardened shaving made it's way into the chamber, and got be tween the lug, and face. When the bolt was worked back and forth, it started the galling, and once started, it just kept shredding itself.

Bright side is that Bergara didn't balk for a moment, and immediately opened a repair ticket, and sent me a shipping label.
LGS was equally easy to work with. Owner took one look and said "yeah, it's toast" IMMEDIATELY issued me a refund, did paperwork to take my name off the gun, and gave me a list of other local Bergara dealers since he didn't have another in stock.

go get it back from the store ASAP and send it!!!!
Agreed, you probably would have ended up with twice the rifle. Either way, it’s good that Bergara was quick to do the right thing, as well as your FFL. Bergara has always stepped up in my experience, all of mine have been great but my brother and brother in law both had small issues that Bergara handled efficiently.

This is what I was going to post and tell you. A tight chambering spent case and some dry bolt lugs can do exactly what you are looking at. i have done it before. It was what completely pushed me away from neck sizing as a regular practice.
